Should I replace my windshield that cracked with standard glass or gorilla glass?

They say the Gorilla glass is lighter. Does anyone know what the windshield weighs in both forms?

Thanks!!!!
Tough call. I had my GGlass installed in Aug and yes I had to wait about 45 days for parts availability. Since that time I have encountered two situations where a passing vehicle has thrown up a stone without any marks on the winshield...so far anyway. Whether it would have been the same with the standard MOPAR replacement glass I cant say for sure. Not sure about the weight...sorry. Best of luck.

Do we have any owners who have had a GG windshield for 1+ years?

I'm curious. I sprung for it for my Mojave, expected in about a month. I figured for ~$180 it was wroth a shot.
I did the same thing lol. I really only bought it because it wasn't that expensive and everyone on this forum swears by it. I have 2 walnut trees by my house, over the driveway and street. I avoid parking under them, but driving under them there's always a chance one of those grenades could drop.

In all the vehicles I've owned I've only ever had 2 windshields crack (one by walnut). Either the base Gladiator windshields are thin, or people on this forum beat the crap out of them haha

Anyone came up with a part number yet for GG for a Gladiator with ACC?

GG will be my next windshield. I have now repaired 4 chips and 3 cracks on my Mojave with 15,000 miles. Thank the heavens for Rain-x windshield repair kits. They are delaying the inevitable, but worth the $8.

My anecdotal experience. I owned my JT for less than 2 hours. Only had 115 miles on the clock. The very first road debris I heard that hit my windshield did this.

I'll admit that I'm not at all convinced that GG isn't worth it, but I will say I had higher hopes for its durability. Maybe it was a one in a million shot and I struck it lucky, I don't know.

I'll file a claim with my insurance soon and see how the next round does, but so far the champion is the one and only rock (or whatever) that hit my windshield. Road debris is batting .1000.

It didn't even sound big. It honestly sounded like hitting a grasshopper. More of a low decibel thud than a sharp ping or the gunshot-esque sound that many have reported from their GG impact experiences where their windshield came out victorious.

So, I don't get it. YMMV

Their website says it’s Gorilla Glass

It is. These windshields are made with Corning Gorilla Glass. That's the registered trademark of Corning's processes involved in creating the in-facing layer of glass that's used.

So do they do something to make it better than Mopar GG?
No, it's still Gorilla Glass on the inside layer. It's all Corning Gorilla Glass on the layer that's in the cabin facing your face.
Corning has the patent on the process that makes Gorilla glass. HGP is using the Corning GG like Jeep is on that inside layer.

As far as the differences between the HGP windshields and the MOPAR windshields, I can't say - but that inside-facing later is all Corning Gorilla Glass - as far as I can tell, they wouldn't be able use the name otherwise.

Here's a blurb I found related to the Ford windshields -
Corning has partnered with Hyperformance Glass Products (HGP) to manufacture hybrid laminate replacement windshields for Ford F-150 owners, which feature Corning's Gorilla Glass.

That tells me that HGP is using Corning Gorilla Glass - who makes them for MOPAR? I don't know.

I wonder what the benefit is from having the GG on the inside. We get hit on the outside.
This is what really makes me wonder if it is even worth getting. If the outside is still just the standard glass then it is going to crack either way. Is there something else to this that I am not understanding?

Not sure the difference, but I know mine has taken some brutal hits. I have about 18K miles on mine so far no complaints.
