Well, as far as the US market was concerned, Tavaras was a disaster. He even admits he was arrogant. And it's not really news he was bad for Stellantis. Leading up to his "resignation" and after, Tavaras was explicitly blamed for Stellantis' failings for his inflexibility to adapt to the new market dynamics. And this was from people inside Stellantis and out - like the UAW.
His opinions on EV aren't exactly wrong; going all-in on EV and killing popular vehicles and options was. As far as EV tech goes, I have no problem as it being an option. But let the market chose; stop trying to force it. And if you are going to force it, build the infrastructure first - charging stations and/or battery swaps - so it can be almost as seamless as driving a gas- or diesel- powered vehicle. I'm not going to have an EV if I have to wait hours to have a battery charge on my 800mi road trip.
Cost-cutting and plant closures does not help the future of the company, it's only a short-term gain. Any business student knows and understands that. Inventory incentives are another short-term fix. Yet Tavaras used these tactics over and over.
Whomever recommended these actions, or if they came from Tavaras himself, he's the head of the company. The buck stops there.

Tavaras, iirc, did an event where he placed DEI above all corporate initiatives. Something like nothing is more important than being DEI.
Ok, sure, whatever.
If you treat everyone equally to begin with, there's no reason to force DEI on everyone.

It is more than amusing that the EV gaga-ness has finally crashed and burned. Big time. It took a while for it to happen, but it finally has, and I must say it's more than satisfying. I felt like one of the only people here on this forum that had the opinion that Stellantis was going way overboard with the electric vehicle fad, maybe now they can get back to doing something productive, like, maybe, competing with Ford and GM.

Meddling with market economics tends to implode as soon as the crutch gets removed. The article I posted was interesting to me from the aspect that part of their losses related to costs for quality control issues.

I think a lot of us were thinking the pendulum was swinging way too fast, way too far.
Hybrids were a much easier step to make while developing pure EV.

I agree....but I sure did almost get into some knock-down dragouts with some of the EV fanboys here. They're unhinged, of that I'm sure.
