Def agree with all of that! I can make a better meal over a camp fire than about any restaurant, lol, but the wife and kids like to go places every now and then. Really had my hopes set on a few hundred acres in montana/Utah to live out my days, but I have been priced out of that dream!
What part of WV are you in? We're over around Parkersburg, and I really feel it's the armpit of WV! Maybe not as bad as clarksburg/fairmont area tho.
Lewis County ,Jane Lew Area. 6 miles and I am on Corridor H 33E/48East heading to the mountains . I can be in Seneca rocks in 1hr45 min. Elkins is 45 miles from me .
I live close to where General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson grew up .

I've done over 20 LS based swaps in my life, the long term plan for my Gladiator when my wife is done dailying it, is absolutely to swap it and have it replace my LS 4runner as my primary wheeler.

There's nothing particularly difficult or cutting edge about swapping them.

Just not a project I would recommend the average Joe with an average budget to take on and think he's going to knock out in a weekend, on something CAN Bus.
I know a guy locally that bought a 5.7Hemi and Transmission out of a dodge pickup truck for like 4,500 and swapped it in a TJ was quit the job. And the wiring harness was super dooper expensive well over 2,000 plus the PCM and TCM had to be reprogrammed that took some doing also. He was months getting it all completed.

Happens all the time.

People listen to couch dwellers going, "boy I'll tell you whut, I'd slap a Hellephant in that sumbitch"

Then they get all strung out on buying the most expensive thing because obviously anything cheaper or used is no good.

Then days, weeks, months of throwing hundred dollar bills at something you're not enjoying, then it's on Marketplace for pennies on the dollar because they "changed directions" or "don't have time"

This entire scenario plays out daily in the car/truck/Jeep world, and it's the anti-everything I'm about lol.

I swapped a 4.7L V8 and 545RFE transmission into a TJ. Took about 2 years from start to finish. I made the wiring harness because I didn't want to spend on a custom one. Won't do that again.

East TN anyday over anywhere in WV...if living cost and buying wasn't an issue. Eastern panhandle of WV is growing like crazy, but if I had to pick an area in WV, it would probably be elkins area, or down around the Greenbrier. Not to much to offer as far as culture, restaurants, shops, but an outdoorsman paradise for camping, fishing, hunting.
Thing that steered me from TN was the fuckin tornadoes.......not dealing with that shit. Was looking at Clarksville, TN area because of my skillsets and Dr Campbell

Do they not hookup OBDII there? A tuned car will fail immediately here. They literally network connect to the CA DMV computer systems during the test.... it's insane.
Not if it's tuned correctly.

No inspections, emissions, or anything here in Idaho. All they do is look at the VIN to make sure it matches the title, and give you plates.
Same here in Ohio. When the 3.6 in my JTR dies, it'll get a ls with a th400

So...I was the lucky one to purchase this. 24 hours into ownership it's been everything I expected. Really exciting to drive in a straight line and with the top off, not much for cornering 😂

It's been fun reading the threads in the forum. To answer the questions on cats/smog/licensing, I'm a CA resident but have a place in Montana and a Montana LLC where we license all our cars, so that solves the issue. Happy to answer any questions on this if any of you are looking into this option. This is the company I used http://www.mymontanallc.com/

I'm doing some basic things to the truck (bed cover, wireless carplay upgrade, mesh screen covers when the top is down for my kids), but would love feedback on other accessory/upgrades.

My biggest decision will be to keep the 37's or switch to 35's. I love the look of the 37's (I also think the 35's look great) but would be interested to see if there's a noticeable uptick in driving experience with the 35's. I'm 90/10 city driving, with the 10% being trips up to the snow, dirt trails on the ranch, etc, so nothing crazy. We also have a Grand Wagoneer Hemi that will handle some of those trips. Fuel efficiency won't factor into the equation, performance first, then aesthetics. I've read a few of the 35 vs 37 threads, but any additional feedback is appreciated.

Definitely cannot be be registered in CA, ever. I wonder what the buyer intends to do with it.
Surprisingly, not everyone lives in California. Many states don't give a rip. No emissions inspections.

RUN, do not walk away from this nightmare. The only viable conversions are Hemi based and there are just a couple I’d even consider. By the time you add it all up and pay for one you’ll be buried in buyers remorse

A little to late to talk someone into your opinion. He seems to be enjoying his purchase from his post.

Seems to still be doing well even after the 392 JLU came out. They may have taken a hit on conversions but the need for an LS swap is still going.
