I think this has just begun on mine. On the way from Tucson to Phoenix doing 75 the indicator on the dash would come ok for a few seconds then go out for a while. It did it probably 5-6 times. Sounds like it’s only a matter of time before it stays on. Awesome.

Happened on my mojave while towing a trailer from Denver to Phoenix. Now does it randomly. I’ve got the Z bypass on the way and I am also changing the dif fluid. Dealer told me they would get a new axle, not dealing with it. Locker still works just dash seems to be confused.

Resurrecting this thread as this is now happening on my replacement axle. Time to call the dealer, but I was curious if anyone has dealt with this recently and if the full axle swap was still Jeep's best resolution?

The sensor needs replaced. The sensor isn't potted inside. So after awhile. Gear lube will seep inside of the sensor, causing issues. Here's the fix so that it doesn't happen.

Does the dealer now replace the sensor or do they still swap the entire axle? I got a new axle last time this happened. The last comment in that thread implies they can now replace the sensor, which is my hope.

I can't answer that. I know that you can buy the sensors themselves.

I have an appointment this Thursday for this exact problem. Towing a trailer and popped on for a short time, then off. On the tow home it popped on and hasn't stopped flashing since. The locker still turns on and off, but only indicates that when you turn it on. I will let you know what they do after my appointment as long as they don't cancel on me again because they don't have internet.

So I had my appointment today. I spent 5 hours there for them to tell me they have to order parts. I had them do my oil change about 1k miles early and the reprogramming recall while I was there, but thats all that got done in 5 hours. When I asked about what parts I was told they have to replace an actuator. When I asked for them to explain further they told me it's a sensor in the diff that they need to replace, which is exactly what I have been reading the past weeks waiting for my appointment. When I asked how long till the part shows up he said "a week, maybe 2, we really don't know, but we will call you when it arrives". When I asked how long the repair will take he said "several hours because they have to completely remove everything in the diff and hook it up to a computer to figure out which of the several sensors need to be replaced and then replace that and put it all back in and together". I was only aware of one senor in there that can cause this issue, but I was massively late to work and didn't want to argue with the service advisor any longer. I plan on getting a better explanation when the part arrives or maybe find a new dealer.

Sorry I call bull shit!
I had the sensor problem on my 2021 Mojave at 95 miles, 19,000 miles ago, did not want to allow them to swap out the whole axle for a small sensor part, so did the Z wave part and didn't look back , locker works fine ,lights on dash show if it is locked or not, and I can feel it.
Didn't look back until today, I'm putting on cast iron diff covers soon and thought let's get the proper fluid and also talk to parts and service at my dealer which I consider pretty damn good. Service said there is a sensor avalible now by itself but he thinks it is not an improved one but the same one which failed before. He thought I did the right thing with the Z part as he thought it was nuts to swap the whole axle and they did a couple, he had no problem with warranty on the work even after I put on my Dana covers, but said see parts and see what avaliblity is, parts guy is , ok it's avalible but backordered and there are 588 ahead of me, and holy smokes list price is almost $500, I'll do better then that but still about $450 if you buy it, but it would be warranty anyway.

I'm probably going to sit tight with the Z part for now, maybe check out the wiring on Z part, but really don't want to have a locker failure, which is what the first guys were reporting, see a blink of the light once in awhile then more often, then service locker and locker is disabled after computer thinks it is not working.....Jack

Oh yeah it is a position sensor, one sensor, just one, there are you tube videos of it and people are replacing them without taking everything apart.

This is exactly what I told him, but he just rolled his eyes at me. I'm planning on talking to one of the mechanics that will actually do the work or just called a different dealer

Actually...... having this issue right now!!

was looking to see if anyone else had the same issue and what it was. Going down the highway at 70 towing the camper home from vacation and the locker light popped on. That’ll wake ya up at 1:30 am on an empty interstate! While off-roading, I would engage the rear to help climb a muddy hill and turn them off again once I was up. Rolling slowly I would get the message “disengaging“ then “axel lock disengaged” and the light went out. I tried to engage the lockers in 4 high once and it said “not available“ or “4 lo necessary” or something to that effect.

right now .... I’m in a big parking lot, got under and looked, everything ‘looks’ fine but when I hit the switch, it does lock the axel in 2h (I can tell by the tire scrub turning in a circle) and showed locked. Hit the unlock switch and it says unlocking, light blinking, and no tire scrub.

BTW had my first oil change at 5K just two weeks ago before this trip and I’m pretty sure they did some kind of computer flash to it because I noticed all my apps on the Uconnect were rearranged as I was leaving the dealer. Now this!!!

arg!! I’m gonna keep looking into this and will watch this thread and post if/when I get any answers.
Well, the traction control has to be in full off in order to engage the rear locker. So my guess is a combination of the traction control sensor and the switch for the locker
