Hey Beav, in case you haven't had your updated update SW flash done (LOL), I just had mine done at the dealer today. No issues for me so far. I don't notice a different firmness (yet) however I note it seems a tad more forgiving in 1st out of a dead stop.Hello from 3 hours west of you! (castlegar) I got my recall done today and I am experiencing the bugs; from no display on the dash to some strange language. I can set it back to English, using the settings on the infotainment center, but it inverts back to the foreign language after a couple of seconds. I would suggest holding off on the software update until they sort out the bugs.
For me it seems like my clutch is a little more firmer to press, which I prefer than the featherweight it was before. It feels like there's a wider window now for clutch engagement too, small but noticeable at first.
After this recall, I am finding that I have much more ability to gently slip the clutch, without having to give it _any_ throttle, in things like backing out of nose-down diagonal parking- without it stalling. In that regard it seems like a marked improvement. I wonder if they have calibrated into it something that makes the engine's throttle/ fueling/ timing a bit less stall-prone in the friction zone at idle or just-off-idle. Whatever it is, I am liking it.Hey Beav, in case you haven't had your updated update SW flash done (LOL), I just had mine done at the dealer today. No issues for me so far. You know if the recall was to actually fix the defective design, I would gladly bring it in. The recall you put out fixes nothing, it just removes my vehicles ability to apply power.Hi jimbom,

It doesn't rob power, at all, unless it has seen excessive slipping. You know if the recall was to actually fix the defective design, I would gladly bring it in. The recall you put out fixes nothing, it just removes my vehicles ability to apply power.
Just like the USB in the center console. You know it is broken, but you have no intention of fixing either one.
Thank you very little Jeep!

Which would mean too much torque for the pressure plate to handle, thus slippage, heat and so on. So as long as you aren't over-doing it, as long as you haven't forced it to do more work than it was made to handle, it won't slip and won't get hot and won't cut back.
Makes sense - it's more to keep someone from killing and burning the clutch by pulling out tree stumps or pulling a Klingon bird of prey up a hill and maxing out the warp engines causing an antimatter containment field breech.
Please, my clutch smoked from driving the flat highways down here in Florida.Which would mean too much torque for the pressure plate to handle, thus slippage, heat and so on. I can't figure out why with the rest of the drive train, especially the axles, being so beefy, good transmission, solid engine, why the clutch setup they have? They don't even have to look around - there are clutches already engineered for them. Please, my clutch smoked from driving the flat highways down here in Florida.
Best thing i ever did was replace that piece of junk clutch. I haven't had any clutch issues since I did it other than the Torque management robbing you of power when you need it.
The new clutch even makes it possible to back up my 20 degree sloped driveway without stalling or burning out your clutch.
Jeep is screaming about people overheating these clutches and causing fires. I am pushing an extra 100+ HP and torque through my Centerforce without ever smelling the slightest whiff of burning clutch.
The clutch is and was the problem. Them removing more of your HP when you need it means you are settling for an even more underpowered vehicle.
I have driven manuals my entire life, and I have never seen such a piece of junk clutch. I still believe they brought in a kid straight out of college that has never driven a manual and asked him to design the clutch and manual transmission.
The simple truth is they will never fix the clutch. They know the die-hards will make excuses for them. "It's a Jeep thing". They have no intention of fixing anything. They also know once the initial clutches wear out and get replaced with aftermarket, all the problems will stop.
