I’ve been attempting to get to my front right wheel speed sensor for the past week, but have been stymied by a seized-on rotor. I live in the coastal northeast and everything here rusts like crazy.

After doing all the typical stuff (PB Blaster, hammers, torch, bolt through the caliper mount, etc), a rotor puller is my planned next step.

I haven’t used one before, so I am just looking for any general advice on using the puller from anyone who has done it before.

Right now, my plan is to heat up the rotor, let some PB Blaster soak in after the metal has expanded a bit, then use a rotor puller attached to my impact wrench with a few lug nuts in the studs to avoid having the hot rotor clock me in the face, and probably run a ratchet strap across the puller to limit the chance it pops off under strain (Maybe even tie a line on the cross bar of the puller, in case it does pop off).

Open to recommendations…

Probably easier to just pull out the axle with it, then place the wheel studs end on the floor and hit it with a hammer.

Beware, the little torx bolts securing the rotor to the hub are soft. The Torx splines came off one of mine like butter. I managed to get it loose with a screw extractor, then omitted them on reassembly

. This would probably just pop the studs out…
I had this same issue years ago - seemed like the rust/dust from the vented rotors settled around the hub and welded the two together… I heated the hub and used the bolt to apply pressure to the rotor while I rotated the rotor and beat it with a hammer. This with the vehicle on jack stands in a gravel driveway. Not fun but it eventually popped off. What really sucked was when I thought I was making progress- could see that the rotor was moving - only to discover that the rotor had a crack and the movement was just the flex opening the crack up…

If you write off the rotor and are going to replace it, I know of no match to my snap on air hammer at 125 psi
