So I picked up our new camper today, a No Boundaries 19.8, and of course the weather decided it needed to not cooperate. Drove the 3 hours home in 25-30mph sustained winds and 50+ mph gusts. Surprisingly with the blue ox 2 point, not a lot of drama or real issue with the tail wagging the dog.

Power was a bit lacking in to the head wind but I expected that. Overall really happy with how drama free it towed in what are probably some of the worst conditions I'd normally be facing.

Congrats, nice camper, picture makes it look like you are a little high on the hich, getting trailer hitch level is always the best. Blue Ox is the WD hitch I use, works great no sway.....Jack

Probably empty, new, towed it home for first time, truck and trailer unloaded. Bet it sits differently in real life use.

Also know he's pretty capable........

On a single axle trailer, if the front is a tad high, it shifts weight back a tiny bit, my bets- he'll adjust.

Yeah, this was a private party sale so for this tow home I had to use it as setup for the guys Toyota Sequoia. Was a little worried when I saw how nose high it was but couldn't do much as the drop was already at its lowest point.

I'll be getting a much longer drop hitch to get it more level. Also as Shadowspapa mentioned this was still basically empty and the truck also empty except the usual tool box I keep in the back, so I'll get better measurements this weekend after we load it up and see where I'm actually at

Was still really surprised at how well it towed given the conditions. I've been towing my Aliner for 2 years but that's 1200 pounds lighter and 5 feet tall so I forget it's back there.

Lovely camper/van. (We call ones that size vans here short for caravan). Same same. A great sized unit. Not too big bit too small.

Great towing report and proof that all Gladiator needs in order to round out the package is a powertrain option that makes its torque lower down.

I’m not surprised bc when I see the wheel base and vast array of quality spring/shock options out there. And it’s good to see it as I tow a slightly smaller yet similar sized camper.

Right now the midsized double cab utility vehicle I use has a 2.0L Diesel engine in it, it makes great, actually peak torque from 1500rpm through to 2800. As much as I love some of the added awesome Gladiator features ie solid front end and roof options, I’ll be waiting for the next gen of powertains with fingers crossed.

i did test drive the 3.6 petrol/gasoline version here. Loved the vehicle instantly.

Thanks for the towing report gives faith in the platform.

Are you still on stock 4:10 gears. Just curious about frame of reference. Thanks.

No, I'm on 38s with a 2.5 inch Clayton lift and 5.13s. around town I actually did fine, it was the high winds highway speeds (55-65mph) that really just made it feel a little less adequate. Never unsafe, but it was definitely working against that headwind.

Doesn't hurt that the stock Rubic9n is tow rated for 7,000 pounds. Even with tire swaps, lift and so on, he's up above the crowd in that area.

Wow, I'd feel that even with the other trucks I've had. (25-30, 50 mph gusts on an open highway)

I am curious - what are your RPM ranges towing with that combo?

Good lookin setup. Hope you enjoy years of fun.
Used to drive through that area years ago when I would travel to see my wife in Palm Harbor before we got married. Nice area and love the gulf.

Yeah, my goal was to stay in the 5k gvwr range as we plan on taking this up to TN and around that area as well so I wanted to stay well below my max. If I was just staying around here in Florida I could have probably gone closer to 6k but this camper has more than enough space for the kids, dogs, and our stuff for many years to come so I didn't really see a need for it.

For RPMs, at 55-60 in 4th I was around 4.1k, 5th was 3.25k or so, and 6th was 2.7k. fuel mileage at 55 with out the headwind was around 10ish on the gauge in flat area, with the headwind it was like 7.

Depends on where you are towing, how far you are towing, and how much payload you are using up on people and other stuff.

80% is considered a good number which is 5600lbs on the Rubicon. If you are towing lots of mountains less is probably recommended, if you are in relatively flat only you can go up a bit.

I liked the 19.3 a lot but the wife wanted a slide. We have a lot of trips planned this year with it so I'll be trying to post up more often about the different places we go.
