Seriously, of you can get past the looks, a Honda Ridgeline is what you seek.
Ha Ha, this is great, and make no mistake that Consumer Reports only gave two trucks a thumbs up to purchase: any guesses which ones those were? That's right, a Honda Ridgeline and the Gladiator. First time in recent years that I can remember Consumer Reports giving a thumbs up to buy a Jeep vehicle.

I have a 2018 Ram 2500 4x4 Cummins that gets 16.5-17.5 around town, I have a 2021 JTRD Gladiator that gets 22.8-23.8 mpg around town, Ram gets 21-24 on highway, JTRD gets 27-29 on the highway.
Jesus. Maybe mine is just f’ed up. I get 15-16mpg. 15 around town. Maybe 17 on long trips if I’m lucky.

Edit: just noticed the “D”

4WD Auto on the RAM works fantastic on snow, ice, rain covered roads etc. The heater is a proper heater, not a enigma wrapped in a mystery like the Gladiatior. 20mpg is much better than what I get in the Jeep and the power put our by the RAM annihilates the Jeep.

All that, plus nobody waves at you in a random ass RAM pickup. ha
Just curious. Who gave you the 20 mpg number? The one I traded for my Gladiator got 13 tops on a good day downhill. 2018 Ram 2500 Lone Star Silver edition, 6.4 hemi, 4wd, 10k suspension, tow package. I loved it, but the suspension was beating the wife up being so stiff/solid and the gas mileage sucked.

On the Gladiator I'm averaging about 17-18 mpg. I see 23-24 on the highway daily. I'm actually getting a better ride too. The wife loves it.

Sounds like the snowflake needed a Prius...

I traded in my 2017 2wd GMC Canyon for my JT, and I can tell you that no V6 truck gets better mileage than ~20mpg... I’m getting 19mpg in town with my JT...
On the console I'm seeing 22-24 mpg daily on the highway. Haven't done the calculations but I figure it's close enough.

I agree that you should expect some trolling on a forum, but I feel embarrassed for some of the children on here. You are not a snowflake for wanting another truck OP, and it appears half of the naysayers really didn't read half your post. I wish you the best of luck and you find a vehicle that makes you happy!
Why is everyone getting so touchy about someone thinking about another vehicle? The gladiator is a truck... a depreciating asset lol nothing more, no one insulted your mother. lmao

Kinda similar to what I posted on the Ranger Forum recently when I told them I got rid of my 6 month old Ford Ranger XLT SX4 for a Gladiator. The Ranger was a sweet truck but it wasn't a Jeep.

Good luck, enjoy your next vehicle.
I saw one of the new Rangers here the other day. I've had em in years gone by but this new model...not impressed.

Now- when I replace my wife's Volvo XC90 with a JLUR auto I'll get her the selctrac transmission with 4H auto option and she'll also be getting a diesel because she does a lot of hiway driving (she's a realtor and lists properties all over western metro Twin Cities).
Is this an option on the JL? You and I both know it's not on the JT.

When I bought the Rubi, I dropped off a 2017 RAM Hemi in trade. That truck averaged 17-20mpg over 36000 miles.

My Gladiator now has 4600 miles and averages 15mpg on the same commute.

To be honest I don't mind the 15mpg but the RAM was a damn rocket ship compared to the Gladiator AND got better mileage. Thats the part the bugs me.

My daily driver is a work truck which is a 2018 RAM 2500 hemi. The best I've ever gotten is 16mpg doing nothing but long 55-60mph trips with no traffic. Normal mpg for everyone in my group with these trucks is 10-13mpg. Aside from the poor mileage, the ride quality is atrocious

I daily a 2020 2500 6.4. The new 8 speed auto in the Hemi makes a big difference to MPG, but on a really good day, if I’m really gentle with all non-interstate speed (read 45-55mph) highway driving I can only squeeze out about 16. My average over 36k miles is 9.7mpg. Non-towing average is 11mpg. Oh, and it takes mid-grade.

The Ram HD trucks do *not* have auto 4wd. You’ll be shifting it manually just like your JTR.

I bought my Ram because we spent the last year living and traveling in an Airstream, but now that we’re setting long back down in a house the Ram will get traded in for a JTM. I’m looking forward to the SelecTrac and nearly halving my fuel costs. And not needing an 8 lane highway to make a u-turn.

I have never bought a truck (any) for gas milage. I fill up twice a week so depending on how far I go could cost more or less at what ever the price is. Knock on wood my Gladiator has been great so far and heater is better than my Dakota was. Rams are nice but a jeep is a jeep. I wish I could afford another

Thats good info, thanks. I'm looking at the Cummins in the 2500 so would expect better gas mileage there. And I would hope RAM Laramie would have a cushier ride than the stripped down commercial model but I definitely have some test driving to do.

My guy at the RAM/Jeep dealer just said the best he would do for a TRX is $10k over MSRP so I guess that option is out, for now.

I think I'll keep the JTR for another summer to see if it grows on me. If not, I'll wait for year two of the TRX and hope they iron out some of the bugs. Surely nobody can fault me for loving the idea of a 700+hp production pickup.
