Almost 2 months back, rescued one of my employees and her BF from Bunce School Road trail in Colorado, and their friend who tried to help, after they Austin Powers'd their XJ into the trail trying to turn around.

Additionally, 2 weeks back, moved 1200 miles to South Texas. The JT barely, and I mean BARELY, fits on a uhaul auto transport with 35's. Used the winch on my Jeep to pull it forward to the max to make it fit the best it could. Made it safe to our new home the the RGV

This is actually from last week, but rented a brush mower to do some maintenance at my campsite.

Then cut up some firewood.

Looks like I'm not the only one happy with the battery saw. Love this thing. Just as much power as my 201 gasser without the fuss of oil and fuel. I'll probably pick up one for each Jeep.

I’ve been meaning to look into the Milwaukee. I’d love to have one on the trail, and already have batteries. Chain oil is what stops me. Do battery saws not need it, or do they somehow not leak it everywhere?

I can't speak for the tool company saws like Milwaukee or Dewalt. But chainsaws still need bar oil. I was more on terms with oil mixed into gas at the proper ratio. Although you can also buy pre-mixed gas. But yeah they need bar oil, which does leak out over time so I always put a bunch of blue shop towels under mine. I would imagine the tool company saws would also need oil. From watching videos of them, they don't cut very well IMO - but I'm also used to professional saws with full skip chains. They would probably work for the 90% of your needs.

Another benefit is they are quiet. No hearing protection needed. And virtually zero maintenance compared to a gas saw.

I actually have one of the 12" DeWalt battery saws, and I love it. I was borrowing the Stihl from my mom, and it performed really well. I'll probably never go back to gas chainsaws at this point.

I have the Milwaukee because the battery’s i have already. It’s a little beast chainsaw oil will leak and has to be used.

I assumed as much. That’s why I bring a sawzall and pruning blades with me on trails. I’ve got plenty of $ invested in my gas saws.

I just picked this up.

18v 10”.
Went with this cuz I already have a few ryobi batteries.
My most use is for 6” or 7” gathered branches that I could never break by hand.
These do take chain oil and will leak if over oiled or much oil left in the reservoir so shop towels underneath are suggested.
I also plan to look to see if a plastic case is available for these.

I picked up a 28" Craftsman toolbox with a weather seal that holds my DeWalt chainsaw, spare battery, charger, and a quart of bar oil easily. Identical boxes are sold with Stanley and DeWalt branding, so look for the cheapest if interested.

Yesterday I towed this old Metro home with my near stock Mojave. Just wheels/tires and bumper upgrades so far but it towed pretty well after weighing in around 5400lbs.
