I do curse a couple times, the loggers really pissed me off what they did to my buddy's property. That road was just fine for 20 years, and they came in, and cut, and all of sudden it's trashed the following year of good rain.

Thanks for the ride along. Way to point the nose and go! They logged a road near me onec time and actually graded it properly for the first time in years, so when the exact same erosion pattern you showed it was like going from great to freaking awful, mudholes, trenches, same stuff. Fun ride though

Yeah, what happens is the heavy trucks and skidders start breaking up the sub-base deep under the road bed, which works its way upward, eventually breaking ground. This creates places for moisture to settle when it rains, creating major erosion over time, thus weakening the sub-grade even more. It’s the same thing that happens to roads that get heavily-trafficked by 18-wheelers and such, leading to the asphalt cracking and buckling, sunken areas, potholes, etc...

I did not realize that is a Jeep Badge of Honor Trail. We had to do a little tugging and winching to make it, but well worth the trip. It is a beautiful view from up there!

Yesterday and today I did the two Badge of Honor trails in Arizona in my two-week-old stock JTR. I also drove down just about every dirt road and trail I could find in northern Arizona. Awesome couple of days and this truck is unstoppable.

I would not call this wheeling. I was in 2wd. Mostly fire roads, but I took the loop out of Cheyenne Canyon this morning after my trail run. Nice early morning drive.

Close enough. Mostly just trying to offer a place to see Gladiators used for my traditional Jeep duty, not hauling plywood home from the local big box store.

That's a cool looking tunnel, BTW.

They have quite a few tunnels like that out here. They are fun to drive through. Some of these roads are from pioneer days. Old Stage to Gold Camp to Cripple Creek. Lost of Fed land up there so it's free to camp.

South Marble Head, Drummond Island, MI. We had a great day riding solo. We knew there would be Jeeps at Marble Head Steps. I wouldn't do it without spotters. Since a group of 5 Wranglers rolled up while I was surveying, we were able to go down and back up (with spotters)

Took the weekend to drive out to Ely, NV and camp in the mountains to avoid the heat wave for a few days. The mountain range in the second picture is Great Basin Nation Park.
