Thanks for the ride along. Way to point the nose and go! They logged a road near me onec time and actually graded it properly for the first time in years, so when the exact same erosion pattern you showed it was like going from great to freaking awful, mudholes, trenches, same stuff. Fun ride thoughI do curse a couple times, the loggers really pissed me off what they did to my buddy's property. That road was just fine for 20 years, and they came in, and cut, and all of sudden it's trashed the following year of good rain.
Yeah, what happens is the heavy trucks and skidders start breaking up the sub-base deep under the road bed, which works its way upward, eventually breaking ground. This creates places for moisture to settle when it rains, creating major erosion over time, thus weakening the sub-grade even more. It’s the same thing that happens to roads that get heavily-trafficked by 18-wheelers and such, leading to the asphalt cracking and buckling, sunken areas, potholes, etc...Thanks for the ride along. I did not realize that is a Jeep Badge of Honor Trail. We had to do a little tugging and winching to make it, but well worth the trip. It is a beautiful view from up there!1st Badge of Honor Trail, Monument Ridge, Grand Teton National Forrest near Jackson, WY

Close enough. Mostly just trying to offer a place to see Gladiators used for my traditional Jeep duty, not hauling plywood home from the local big box store.I would not call this wheeling. I was in 2wd. Mostly fire roads, but I took the loop out of Cheyenne Canyon this morning after my trail run. Nice early morning drive.

That's a cool looking tunnel, BTW.

Is that north of Fort Walton? I live in Gulf Co and would like to find some new places to go.Blackwater FL
