Hey group, this is my first post here, and I'm looking for an opinion from other Gladiator owners. I'm looking at a couple of different used Gladiators for my son to drive, and can't decide which of 2 to pull the trigger on. This will be for mainly daily driving with some light off roading and camping and occasional towing close to 6K lbs, and both are within $1000 of each other:
1) JT Rubicon w/ 55K miles, loaded w/ trail cam, leather, cold weather group, etc. with good records and clean Carfax.
or
2) JT Overland w/ 35K miles, loaded w/ leather, cold weather, etc. No trail camera. Has good maintenance records and clean Carfax.

I know I want the Rubi, but is that worth the additional 20K miles for the same price? I would plan to keep for the next 10 years, so longevity is more important than resale. Your thoughts and opinions are very much appreciated!

Drive 'em both. Pick the one that feels the best. The Rubi benefits only off-road stuff beyond "light offroad". I've heard the Overland rides better than the Rubi.

Mileage really doesn't matter that much.

The Overland is the same as the Sahara. It is a better DD. and just as capable offroad. It has the 3.73 gears while the Rubi has 4.10's. Towing is ever so slightly higher on the Rubi. Does either have the tow package?

Yes, both have the tow package. I also prefer the looks of the Rubicon (and the front camera) but can't decide if that makes up for the Overland with 20K fewer miles.

as mentioned that few of miles doesn't matter one bit! Jeeps last forever as do their value!

It also depends on what kind of miles. How hard has the Rubicon been driven off-road if any? Depending on those variables, I’d definitely go with the Rubicon.

Rubicon does the added utility and strength unless it has been abused off road. Check the undercarriage for scrapes and dents. If you do resell one day, I have noticed with the older wranglers that the rubicon package seems to hold its value better than others. Same will likely be true when the JTs are 10 years old.

Everyone will have a differnt opinion. Many will choose the one they got.
A lot of people ask this question.
Bottom line is get the one you like. You keep saying you want the Rubi. Then get it. They are both either out of warrenty or close enough. If the bottom of the Rubi is not trashed then get it.

I have a Sport S Max Tow because it had what I wanted and paid a Rubi price for it with all the options. I could care less about resale value down the road. I wanted the one that fit what I wanted. 20K miles is not that big a difference.

Get what you want and what you will use. Then you wont regret it.

Very happy with my '20 Overland (leather, cold weather group, etc). I'm still stock and averaging 21.5 mpg at 56,000 miles.

Sounds like you’re already sold on the Rubicon model, so what we have to say doesn’t matter much. That being said, I chose the overland model over the Rubicon for the exact same reasons you’re looking for. I also chose the diesel, so there’s that.

Overland still has 25K miles of powertrain warranty left. Rubicon with only 5K miles left.

I think the Overland is the more practical one but I suspect your kid and you is probably enamored with the Rubicon more.
