I prefer a full width unless I just need the clearance.

On my 2 door the stubby was useful as that Jeep saw a lot of offroading, maximum flex, and needed as much clearance as I could get on the corners even those I was only on 33s.

My Gladiator? It doesn't see such activities. No need for the stubby.

That’s tough. I think many, but not all stubby bumpers look great. But I’m all about function. I want safe full width on the road. I take the wings off (I chopped and customized mine) when I go off road. I need the clearance off road. My tires would hit the wings with sway bar disconnected.

I have a full width Rock Hard 4x4 aluminum that weigh 37 pounds . Full parking lot protection and no weight. I don't go where it will contact rocks.

I prefer the look of a full width bumper IF you have at least 37s and lifted so the bumper don't look like a BIG mustache on the front of the Jeep

I haven't seen a stubby bumper yet that I like the look of. Other folks love the look and that is fine by me.

On the trail though, it is probably better to run a stubby, or remove end caps if your full width bumper has the option to do so.
If you can't get over it with a full width bumper, then you probably can't come down off of it safely.

I like full width on a more stock vehicle. Stubby looks great on a full off road rig like yours.

Then again, I am a winch in plastic bumper guy.

If I would have the choice I would go for stubby. But I don't have ... 😢
Yeah, my final decision came down to the Venator and the Stryker, and I went with the Stryker because it's more aggressive looking and because it's not 2-tone. I also wasn't sure about the plastic inserts around the fog lights.

I’m a mid or full length guy , like the protection and also possibly the wind break on the tires. Stubs are awesome off road in the rocks and trees, but I can’t get over the look. If I was replacing my bumper I think I would go with the Mopar Performance parts mid width bumper has factory crash rating , isn’t covered in bolts like the Rubicon front bumper, has shackle mounts low, looks badass, but my plastic bumper right now is fine and is very light……Jack

Mine needs a serious winter cosmetic refinish, but I loved how it looked in stubby form when it was just finished. I clearly did a crap job painting it, and it no longer looks this good, but it’s quite functional. I do always drive on the road with it as a full width for all of your reasons. If I hit something, or if something hits me (deer), I’d rather it bounce off than go under a tire.

Perfect view of why stub bumpers are the best for off-roading, and Wildhobo has an awesome bumper that some old hippy made that checks both of our boxes, and is one of the nicest looking multi function bumpers out there, me ….I would have paid attention and just drove around the stump, I mean really Dan it was in the middle of no where and ya still hit it!😎…….Jack
