I bought into the Milwaukee eco system and make time to time investments into more batteries, tool only deals etc. I have both the 3/8 and 1/2 inch impacts. Can’t say I’m not happy they work awesome.

The 2767 M18 FUEL™ 1/2" High Torque Impact Wrench with Friction Ring eliminates the need to use a pneumatic tool for those stubborn and rusted bolts by delivering 1,000 ft-lbs of fastening torque and 1400 ft-lbs of nut-busting torque. With 2X faster removal speed, users will be able to get the job done faster and be more productive throughout their day. By providing the industry’s most compact cordless High Torque Impact Wrench at 8.39” in length, this tool allows for more access in tight spaces. 4-Mode DRIVE CONTROL™ with Bolt Removal mode gives users the most control over their fasteners. Bolt Removal mode gives the user more control when removing fasteners by slowing to 750rpm once the fastener has been busted loose. This tool offers quick, tool-free socket changes with a 1/2 in. friction ring anvil. A premium rubber overmold material gives you ultimate comfort during prolonged use while lasting longer against corrosive materials.

. . . . . .(i use all hand tools when working on vehicles). . . . .

However, I will say that I used to be a Milwaukee fan, still think they make good tools, but the last few purchases have been Makita and they are a notch above Milwaukee IMHO. Granted I'm talking woodshop tools, but still.

Except in real life its 700 ftlbs as tested. Milwaukee has massively over stated ratings on their impacts.

You can never have enough tools (as long as the wife doesn't catch on)! I went cordless with just about everything. I started building out my Makita "collection" so I can use batteries interchangeably. Here are my cordless impacts and a a really handy 3/8" (also does 1/4") ratchet. The big one is so poweful, I ended up getting the one that is a little smaller. It is also more compact to get into tight places under the jeep. One of the really cool features is that you can set it to stop racheting as soon as the nut just begins to tighten/contacts the surface. That way you can zip them on and then hand-tighten with a torque wrench.

have those same 3 almost. but my smaller impact driver is a 12v CXT with a hex chucked head for bits. my square head and power ratchet are 18v lxts though.

I've used Dewalt, Milwaukee, and Makati stuff alot. My take is, all are good...
Dewalt leans more towards home owner usage, with automotive generously thrown in on the side.
Makita definitely leans way towards the homeowner side and is possibly the top. But automotive side sucks in comparison to others.
Milwaukee probably rules the automotive side, but tosses in some homeowner usage also.

Now, what do I personally use at home...
I have Ryobi for all my battery powered stuff. They are affordable and have potentially the biggest selection of cordless stuff. Over 280 items that run off the 18v system. Are they the best, no, but I've never had an issue with them. They just might be the best bang for your buck.
How many cordless circular saw have you cut shreetrock with and still work? I did my inlaws garage/shop/man cave and ripped countless pieces of sheetrock with mine. I've had my original for 20 yrs and was given a few tools including another circular saw when an older family friend passed away. Figured why not since I had 2, and they both still work.
Sure the Dewalt and Milwaukee make strong 1/2" impact guns, but do you need more than 1,170 ft-lbs. of Breakaway Torque and 700 ft-lbs. of Fastening Torque.
Plus home depot is offering...
Jeep Gladiator WOW - What an IMPACT ! Screenshot_20230519_140622_Chrom

That two 4ah batteries plus charger and pick of one free tool for $99.
Jeep Gladiator WOW - What an IMPACT ! Screenshot_20230519_140645_Chrom

One 2ah, one 4ah, and one 6ah battery plus charger and one free tool for $199.
Home Depot does this several times a year.
Most tools are under $100 without batteries.

Their USA made stuffs are good. I'm still using one of their bandsaw bought in 2006, coverted into a table saw for cutting metals.

I have both a DeWalt 3/8" and 1/2 894 with the hog ring anvil. The 3/8 is meh, the 1/2 is a beast. I bought the 3/8 first thinking it would be a good pick and pull piece and to rotate my tires at home. Nope. 1/2 all the way.

Big fan of DeWalt's FlexVolt range and lot of the newer ones are assembled here in the US. The interchangeability of the 20v Flex series of batteries is outstanding. I already had a 20v drill, impact driver, jigsaw and reciprocating saw so it was a no brainer. I've now added to it the mower, weed whacker and blower.

If I want extra ugga dugga's, I can use the 60v mower batteries on my 20v impact and break loose seized lugs in the pick and pull all day.

I get the love for Harbor Freight and I have a ton of occasional use Pittsburgh, Central Forge, etc tools but when it comes to dead nuts cordless reliability, you can't go wrong with Makita, Milwaukee, and DeWalt.

I don't think you can wrong with most major brands especially since you haven't really established other cordless tools with battery's that are interchangeable. I stick with miluakee because I like their tools and want to be able to use my battery's for any tool.

You need to figure out what your going to be doing with this tool primarily and then pick an impact with the torque level you need. I just bought a small 250 ft/lbs 1/2" miluakee stubby impact for work because I don't need 600 pounds of torque and a heavier tool. The stubby (which is only 12 volts) is smaller, lighter and will still take lugnuts off of a semi truck. Bigger is not always better.

Yep. DeWalt however exceeds their ratings!!

Here's the mid hitting over 900

I came across this channel a few months ago and have gone down the rabbit hole of power tools. It’s addicting! ?

The channel convinced me to go with the Ridgid subcompact impact wrench as he tested it to 500ft-lbs of breakaway torque. But I also haven’t been able to find those results replicated anywhere else.

so back to: subcompact or mid-toque?!
