People Work?
The V8 is pretty much a dead end. I can't believe people still hope for it. Ain't gonna happen.

There's room. Did some comparing on the dimensions and although it's an I6, it's not a long one. It's only a little different than a modern hemi.
Wasn't talking about room.
OP said "V6" ?

If the only options are more complicated and less serviceable (I don't like being dependent on a dealership if at all possible), I'd stick with the 3.6 and give it a little gear as a partial remedy for not having a bigger motor.

Of course a V8 would've be the correct solution from the beginning, considering the JT is heavier and more towing oriented than the JL..

I dream of a V8 in my JT , I dream to buy a JL V8 but at the end , I’d the in-line 6 would be a bad thing ?
V8 is hoped mostly because it’s legendary and the sound ( at least for me ) but the main flaw about my JT it’s definitely the lack of momentum. I think I could appreciate a inline 6 with 300-350 and 500-600 nm

Give me an I6 any day. Maybe it's just that I've got a bad taste left from the last century V6s. The 3.6 has been fine for us....... but...........

I want the 800 hp 4.0

Do we really have to beat this dead horse with more baseless speculation & wishful thinking?
That was my thought when I saw any thought of a V8 happening. With them being dropped all over the industry, including in other trucks, time to dream of something else.
That's truly all any of it can be - speculation - and the rags out there make it worse with their own rumors and speculation. Nothing is set until Stellantis says it is.

I have a 22' f150 Powerboost hybrid which has a twin turbo v6 with 420hp. Every time I drive my JT I dream about how awesome the powerboost engine would be in the JT

This is PURE speculation - but the 3.6 is over a decade old now. The last big revamp was in 2015 for phasing into the 2016 and later model years. There's been nothing new under the sun since save for minor software changes, fixes to a few small things and so on.
Will they drag out the 3.6 as is? Mod it with direct injection? Or, will they move forward?
The V8 platform is also very long in tooth - not a lot can be done with that and keep mother EPA happy and meet CAFE standards. Just can't do it.
My prediction, worth everything you paid, no V8, no new V8, V8s will continue to be phased out of many vehicles below a certain point (meaning anything less than a 3/4 ton truck just for example) and new platforms will emerge (like the turbo I6, etc.) but those won't be numerous due to the push for EV. EV will rule the day and most R&D will go that direction, 3/4 at least. That leaves little room for putting different ICE in different platforms.
For one thing, to put anything else in the JT means back to the drawing board. I've said it elsewhere, but just to get these 3.6s to stay cool under load of towing, etc. was a fight between various departments. They were not allowed to change the radiator support area in any way for a larger radiator because that had already been tested and certified. If putting a V8 in meant any changes to the chassis or body or other structures, forget it! That would mean back to the drawing board - recertifications and more.
I've got a huge PDF of the things FCA wanted the EPA to certify for the future because they were not changing and I mean details, tiny little parts of the emissions systems and more. There are hundreds of letters and forms to get each part involved to be approved for use again. Dropping in a very different engine means they'd need staff to go through that all over again with new certifications.
It's crazy what they auto makers must do to keep making cars these days, especially when it comes to emission controls. They need permissions to do things a certain way - and those have to be renewed every so often.

I'm curious to see if the Hurricane becomes the new standard powerplant replacing the old 3.6 or if it becomes an expensive option.

One thing I have heard mentioned is that Stellantis was going to offer the Hurricane in different output levels so maybe a detuned version for the base model JTs and then a bigger HP verison for the Rubicon/Mojave?

I wouldn't look too hard for a Hemi in the Gladiator at any time, just not going to happen. As for the Hurricane I6, it will fit, but I doubt Jeep will go down that road. I just hope they don't get into the PHEV (2.0 GDI turbo and hybrid transmission), the electric only range is a joke and there are some fun recalls going on now for the Wrangler 4xe. In other words, I am very happy with the Pentastar. Just my two cents, I know many want more power.

A 392 would be cool and all, but I'd honestly rather have the 5.7 Hemi. Less expensive as an option, plenty of power, less dangerous to the rest of the drivetrain and they sound friggin' great with a little muffler mod.

I want to get an older Jeep with a blown engine and build this 401 I have here and drop in it. Leave the JT for good, hammer on the other one.

Curious if anyone has information or speculation on what lies ahead for the JT in terms of engine options? Will the Stellantis I6 Hurricane make its way into the JL/JT over the next couple of years? Will there be a 4xe or full EV version of the JT? Or will Jeep shock everyone and put a 392 in the JT given the JL 392s sales success (or will all V8s die from Stellantis with the green push as many have speculated)?
I have a 2022 Jt Rubicon and I trade off every couple of years or 40,000 which ever comes first. If jeep doesn’t offer a V8 by then for the JT I’ll be done with jeep I’m sorry to say. The 6 just can’t work like I need it to..
