Basically. 3.6% failure rate for those that don't use additive and 0.4% for those that do use it.
If this is the case, why are we fretting so darn much about the fuel pump? Looks like if this sample is reasonably accurate, then we have a probability of NOT having a pump failure of 96.4%! Almost more chance of having a heart attack rolling down the road, yet here we are, worrying more about this pump reliability than going to the gym! Seems to me this is not something to lose any sleep over, but hey, maybe that's just me...:)

I've noticed that those most vocal about this issue fall into 2 camps. Camp A) is one of the unfortunate ones that had a pump failure and are waiting on parts and are pissed because it's a brand-new Jeep (and rightfully so). Camp B) is a bunch of non-owners telling you XYZ why you shouldn't own one (BeCauSE the FuEl PUmP!) and they will complain about maintenance costs ad nauseum parodying the same talking points (with zero experience mind you). These same people also fawn over $30K hemi swaps that would get 11 mpg.

I will say I see this more often on the various ecodiesel/Jeep facebook groups then here though. I get a good chuckle because it doesn't cost me a dime more ownership wise vs my old JK - same cost down to the penny per mile when factoring in additional costs for Def, Oil & filters.

I agree, and your points are well taken. So much exageration, and really a bunch of 'to-do' about nuttin'!

Took mine in yesterday. While they ordered a seat cover for a separating seam, they indicated the parts are not available…which I knew. I asked if I would be placed on a list, they said there would be no list until parts were available.

Item (3) in my post was poorly stated. I meant that I wonder what pump would be on an EcoDiesel Gladiator if I ordered one now.
My 23 JTDR was built in January. There is a plastic cover (that looks like a bear to remove) over the fuel pump so I can't see any distinguishing characteristics. What should I be looking for? Here is a pic from the front. It looks like a CP4 but no clue what version. Wasn't able to get any good pics looking under the cover.

The pumps in these images are all rotated differently but the defining characteristic of a CP4 pump is that round black top on the pump(s). The CP4.1 has one, CP4.2 has two. In your screenshot to the left (with respect to the photo) of the cover there is a white electrical connector. The connector has nothing to do with the pump but I believe the pump cover has a round cutaway there and one of those caps is visible. The other one would be on the other side and I recall it was hard to see.

The CP3 looks totally different. I have not seen the one that Ram is using as a replacement but I hear it looks the same as the old CP3, or at least similar enough.

I've read that there are different versions of the CP4.2, distinguishable on the outside by punch marks or something like that on the top (?) of the case. I was not able to see that spot or much of anything else because of the cover. But I'm not so sure I care if the design is basically the same.

This would indicate we run a CP4.2, there so some threads that suggest we run a CP4.1

Punch marks circled in red. I don't know how to read them.

Not sure what Bosch uses those for, would need to look closer at a pump in the shop.

The punch marks were mentioned in a video a while back. Something about that's how to tell the different revisions apart.

Maybe it's as simple as first row 4 Second row 2. Thus 4.2? Maybe it's model and not revision.

Or maybe it is like with fighter jets: that pump has killed 6 Jeeps so far.

Sorry, just stirring the pot. I'm on the edge of my seat waiting to see what the recall replacement pump will be and if they expand the recall to cover all engines with the 4.2. Not holding my breath, though, it will probably be a while before we know.

You can remove the engine cover and maybe use an inspection mirror to see behind that pump cover. That cover does looks like CP3 under it though.

How long before you turn blue from holding your breath? Need video of the event.

First aerial kill for the F22.
