By the time I drive to the dealer and back I could have changed my own oil 4 times.
Momma always said, anything free comes with a price.
So I will be skipping the "free" oil changes, "oh, you need new wipers" LOL

There were changes to the oil pan in our trucks, the same quantity as other 3.6 doesn't apply.

There is no reason for your dealer to be doing this very basic straightforward service that takes 10 minutes.

Get yourself something like a Fumoto or Valvomax and you can do this super easy.
That’s what I figured with the capacity, higher smaller pan for clearance. I think I’m going to get a fumoto now, I like doing my own oil changes but figured I’d already paid for the first three changes so I might as well use them.

Tend to agree with the rest, looks dark but not used dark. Especially not thousands of miles dark that it would be if it wasnt actually changed. In the picture with the white bucket I can still see through it, 10k mile oil wouldn't be see through in the least.

Are you starting the vehicle for a little bit before you check the oil? Oil settles in the pan after a bit so you have to start it and warm it up before checking the level.

"...shouldn’t the dealer be using penzoil or mopar?"
You can always phone the service department and ask what is being used. I've been told the Mopar oil is Pennziol reboxed.
I have a gift for you. Attached is a fresh bottle analysis of Pennzoil 0/20. If your service is using the same oil, take that sample you poured off and have it analysed and compare the numbers. There will be some changes in numbers, of course, because you put some miles on. The two columns show the lab did their first test in 2019 and the now again in 2021.

Dealerships will use the cheapest oil they can find that meets the Mopar MS-6395 standard. Which means pennzoil is probably not being used or any other big name brand oil you find in stores.

I wouldn't trust a stealership to wash the windshield.
its hard to tell in the picture, but that oil doesn't look used vs dark. I could be wrong.

Because oil changes are almost always handled by the lowest paid shop monkey/janitor, I will never, ever let a dealer do it, unless its a Tesla!
If the oil change is complicated (unlike the Jeep) I may bring it to a specialty shop.

Wow!
Not a lot of love for dealerships in the USA.
Guess I am biased and get special treatment because I sleep next to the Service Manager, she really loves me.?

Been using them for years now. Never take my vehicles in for an oil change (free or not) for exactly the reasons provided in the original post. Pisses me off to no end that something as simple as an oil change is so often screwed up at dealers, a quik lub, etc.. (mess everywhere, incorrect level, forgotten oil cap, etc...) Just thinking about the lack of attention to detail or simply pride in workmanship these days aggravates me...

Anyway, sorry for the rant - A Fumoto drain plug makes changing your oil so much easier and cleaner. They're used on a lot of fleet/service vehicles. If you change your own oil I highly recommend one.

I wish I didn’t hate dealerships, or even mechanic shops, but after years of dealerships and mechanics being dumb, screwing stuff up, and lying to me… it’s just less stressful to do it myself.

The challenge for dealerships is the same as any other company: getting and keeping good employees.

There are undoubtably amazing dealerships out there that take care of their customers, but it sure is hard to find them.

Until that day I’ll just change my own oil, takes 20 minutes and costs less.

Unless you have an oil analysis done, you really do not know and just have suspicions vs. known facts.

Obviously the dealers cannot get it right for you and if me, I would just cut bait and do it myself going forward 100%.

I have watched plenty of service oil changes and most times the oil change monkey is installing the drain plug the nano second it goes from a heavy stream to a steady dribble and calling it good. Couple that with still plenty of use oil that never drains laying in the head crevasses and galleys, there is probably at least 1/2 quart or more of dirty oil that is not factored in the stated oil capacity that will mix with any fresh oil that is put in and making it appear "dirty" on a short drain.
