This photo was taken this morning going up Lizard Head Pass between Ouray and Rigdeway. Oil temp was 266, 3rd gear, 40mph. It went to 267 shortly after this was taken. Please ignore the Kardashian thing on the screen. My partner was charging the iPhone and it somehow came up. The low speed really wasn’t a problem because much of that road has a 45 mph limit. In spite of the climb from around 8,000 feet to over 10,000, I averaged 15.6 mpg between Ridgeway and Cortez. Not bad pulling a 5,000lb trailer. Worst was Twin Falls to Nampa, ID, 10.1 mpg.

yeah I'm not sure I can really trust anyone who says thats not hot but maybe I'm just used to gas motors.

It’s definitely hot. One of my oldest buddies is a retired engineer who used to run a refinery for Mobil. He says synthetics can handle well over 300, but I still think it’s too hot. I’m really hoping someone will come up with a way to reduce Ecodiesel oil temps that won’t void the warranty. As much as I love this truck, I am thinking Cummins/Ram 2500. We’ll see. The same engine in the half ton dodge didn’t have these issues, so we know itā€˜s not the motor. Sadly, I don’t think FCA will do anything for Eco owners because they are phasing out the motor. I think they will just let them die a natural death. Too bad. It’s a great combo.

I’ve heard that a full delete stage 2 runs 15 degree cooler oil temps up hills. Just an FYI.

it helps, but anything about 65 with 38inch tires and you start to heat up. this is only under load such as towing, or a steep incline.

I talked to EOC about this and unfortunately this is not true. Unless someone with a delete tune has had first hand experience I wouldn’t count on that

yes first hand exp riding in a jt with 38s stage 2. Oil temps are 15 degrees cooler than stock same terrain ambient and drive. It alsostays cooler at cruise.

I’m running stock tires and wheels. The vehicle is a dead stock Rubicon. I’m too worried about Jeep honoring my warranty to do anything to it in terms of a tune.

ive been rawdoggin the stage 2 for EOC for a year and its not bad. the heat is only an issue on inclines, but wit 3.73 and 38s. ive only really had heat issues when i hit 7-8 grade inclines and im going 75. i have to back down to 65 to keep my temps low. honestly i wheel hard, hit shit, and treat this jeep like the whore she is, and the tune i think is what has kept her alive. i think it was a solid fix for the heat issues. keep in mind i have several check engine lights for various reasons.

This will be my last post on this forum. Yesterday I bit the bullet and traded my Gladiator for a newer Dodge Ram 1500 pickup. Between the oil temperature issues, DEF guzzling, and concerns about the long-term reliability of the engine, I decided to take the safe route and get a regular 4WD gas engined truck. If I could afford to keep the Gladiator I would have, even if it wouldn’t get driven that much. It’s a great truck overall, and a passable tow vehicle for small travel trailer, but I can only afford to keep one tow vehicle/truck. Thanks to everyone for their advice and support, and I wish you all the best with your trucks.

Looks nice and would hope for a change, but I didn't ANY of the aluminum radiator manufacturers have a great track record especially with the vibration off road? Seems like I remember tons of warranty issues with the aftermarket diesel radiators not long ago?
I dont recall hearing about that issue. Their site points to some fins and structural adjustments to address this issue. I haven't had any issues on my jeep though to justify testing this product.
