You could adept an oil thermostat to use if you want to regulate the coolant temp. You can buy these with different temperature openings.

It’s all just getting a bit too complicated isn’t it?

the whole vehicle is a damn greek tragedy.

I still haven’t got the supplemental oil cooler in. Due to the dimensions and my bumper, I will have to cut the frame horns, make brackets and a skid plate.

I have started to pay very close attention to my throttle position % on my banks and I’ve found that over 40% raises temps into the low 230. 45% brings it right around 240 and 50%+ it quickly climbs into 250s if sustained. This is very useful for me because I can easily back off 5% on a grade and hold the same speed or feather the throttle in and out of the desired zone. I’ve only found on steep sustained grades at hwy speeds, it is better to downshift into 6th gear and keep the throttle position at a lower %.

is this a one of design or are you prototyping/beta testing for insane diesel?

The mesh is a nice touch.

I was doing some testing with them but had fitment issues due to my ARB bumper — so down the rabbit hole I went…

I’ve only prototyped 2 of these with the purpose of handing the cad off to BPD — you’d probably get some response if you ask them about it… I have no intention of doing production runs of these myself but BPD can..

FYI,

I am trying to find a home for the second prototype assembly we fabricated — only one kit is available and I will not be producing more…. I am essentially liquidating it at cost of parts/development.

This is a complete system/kit with all necessary components required for installation (BPD aux. cooler radiator, abs hex grille mesh, 3/16 HRPO skid plate — surface sandblast preparation with galvanic solution preconditioning, textured black powder coat ARB equivalent finish, 10ft. of 5/8 ID heater hose, 5/8 hose barb circuit connector, tension hose clamps, looped hose restraints with 1/2” m6 aluminum mounting spacers, etc…)

The entire assembly attaches to the frame pylons with 2 forward facing bolts — so the cooler is easily removable in about 5 minutes if rock crawling is on the agenda (you’d just need to complete the cooling loop with a barb fitting). So in that sense, the whole assembly can be rapidly deployed when your driving circumstances require additional cooling capacity.

PM if interested —

That looks amazing!

I sure would like to get my hands on one that fits the OEM steel bumper before next spring.

It’s been awhile. I need to update my ID bypass oil filter plus oil cooler experience posted earlier in this thread.
The short Version….the ID part of the system has been removed and replaced with a universal Amsoil oil bypass system.
The ID bypass oil filter housing would leak at the first freeze of winter. My only complaint.
The ID system is up for sale in the marketplace with full disclosure.

The Amsoil bypass oil filter system has been installed for 6 weeks plus and several thousand miles. This is not an engine specific kit. It took several install/uninstall to get the proper output size hole in the new bypass housing. This is needed to maintain factory oil pressure as delivered from the factory. The hole size is 1/16.
During this upgrade I relocated the oil cooler from the spare tire area , forward over the driveshaft, at the front of truck bed. Also, installing the cooler at an angle. I plumbed the cooler so that it fills completely before pushing oil back to the engine. This cooler change made a huge difference in oil temperatures. 20 plus degrees with fan on. Without fan on I can cruise up grades at 75 mph with 230 degree oil temps. Before oil cooler I would hit 248* below 70 mph. Same grades. At 75mph I’m at 2100 RPM.

New member here but was looking at JT EcoD's as a possible option to be a combined tow and offroad rig. I have a 2014 F150 Ecoboost now that tows ok but is just a monster on any trails.

Its a little disappointing to see that overheating is such an issue. I have battled the same thing with my Ecoboost towing my 5500 lb trailer around UT and WY. My coolant temps would get up into the 240's and once or twice hit 250 and put me in limp mode. I see a lot of the same solutions here as we have tried on the F150 forums. I am running my second Mishimoto radiator upgrade as my first one started to leak after 18 months or so. I've also run a Setrab oil cooler with a Improved Racing thermostat sandwich plate.

What is a little funny is that BulletProof Diesel cooler is actually just a 2010 Toyota Prius inverter unit cooler. I bought the exact same thing a few years ago with the intention of putting it inline with the oil/liquid cooler just like Bulletproof it doing on the Ecodiesel. I never got around to it because my Mishimoto radiator and oil cooler seemed to be doing the job on their own and never saw my truck break 230F coolant temps with those on.

I'm surprised that you got 18 months out of the Mishashitymoto radiator. On other forums. People hate those with a passion because of the leaks after a few months.

If this second one fails I will move on and buy a CSF radiator. The Mishimoto core was just 10mm thicker so I went that way. I will say they were awesome about honoring the warranty and did not fight with me on it at all.

I have not heard of anyone else with Mishimoto failures on the F150's though.
