Disable honking when stepping out while engine is running

Yup, mine does it on my '22 Overland but didn't on the previous year models I've had, must just be a new feature added in '22 to the gladiators.

Tazer has come out with the solution.
The latest FW (or at least the one from 2 months ago), has an option to turn the triple beep off!!!
(One Caveat however, is that it only is turned off for the driver front door - the rears and passenger front will still cause a triple beep - hopefully they will fix this “feature” in a future release.)

Fantastic. I already had the Tazer and it was even updated, I just hadn't nosed around the Live settings yet and it wasn't in the copy of the User Manual I had.

Set, and it works. Happy. Would be nice to have the option with the other doors, but can't complain.

I am curious - is that a live-only feature, or can you set the turn off triple honk and remove the tazer and it sticks (tazer out, still no honking)

I'm wondering because when my 2022 arrives, I plan on doing some snooping and seeing what the changes were between 2020 and 2022 and see if there's a way to turn it off using software like jscan or AlfaOBD.
I have a feeling - based on some lines of code in the 2020 that maybe it's doable in 2022 without hardware.........

OK so this is a live feature. Yeah, that's correct in my understanding of tazer (never having even seen one LOL) is that if it falls under live features, it's gotta be there.

Still, though, there's lines in prior model years that make me wonder if it's possible some other way. Being the hacker that I am, always tearing things apart to see how they work and if it's possible for me to break them, I may take a look when my 2022 arrives sometime in 2024 (HA, not that bad, but still.........)

UPDATE: based on the discussion, it appears that this is a functionality that was implemented in 2022 year models, in addition to the usual blinking lights. Manual, page 17 (thank you, @SURF&TURF ). According to dealers (so far) - it cannot be disabled. Aftermarket, you are our only hope (or, just don't close the door when you step out of the vehicle)

I have a rare auditory ailment called HYPERACRUSIS. The sounds of a plastic bag being opened or wadded up, flushing toilets and common low decibel sounds are painful to me but my 2022 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon horn blasting is exceedingly painful. I was a machine gunner in Vietnam and back in those days, you didn’t have earplugs.
Living on a ranch, I have to get out of my Jeep often, leaving the engine running when opening gates, driving into my barns (where the horn blasting is like being in an echo chamber) so in absence of a “fix” to this gawd-awful horning going off, I’ll probably buy a 3rd Jeep (programmed) key to leave in my Jeep to stop the painful noise.

For all the doors or just the driver? Picking up my kids after work I like to leave my truck running so the AC stays on and it’s super annoying having the 3 beeps go off over and over. Usually I pull my wad of keys out and leave it in the cup holder.

Thank you. Now the question is, do I want to get a tazer just for this, or wait until the tires wear out and get one when the bigger set goes on. ?

Years ago, I built my own airplane and had an FAA inspector “inspect” it, I passed the inspection without any discrepancies. But now that I am an old codger, if I attempted to install an AUX switch, I’d more than likely mess something up and would have to call 9-1-1 saying “Help, I’m stuck inside my Jeep, somewhere between the steering wheel and the brake peddle… and I can’t get out…”

I asked my dealer if there was a way to disable this horrible feature. My only dislike of the truck. He told me to pull the fuse for the horn. But then I’d lose my horn function all together. But makes me wonder, is there a wire that goes to that fuse that is specific to the sensor? If I could just yank one wire to eliminate it I’d be happier than having to buy a tazer that I don’t need otherwise.

BCM drives the horns. Not really a wire to cut and still have manual horn use.

Yeah the solution there is just wire the steering wheel horn switch through it's own circuit then pull the existing fuse. Something I may do in the future.

I actually left the rear left door on my Jeep cracked all night the other day cause I forgot to close it after I had the truck running outside and I was getting things in/out and didn't want it honking late at night.

Probably wouldn't annoy me much with the gasser but I try to let the diesel idle down after running it on the highway, per the manual and turbo wisdom for decades
