So it stands to reason my information was correct. So the OP had a 2021 JT Ecodiesel and I have a 2022 JT Ecodiesel and you searched a 2023 JT Ecodiesel.

So I should be fine. I mean the guys at Green Diesel were the ones that said any Gen 3 computer would work....Wrangler, Gladiator or Ram...the response from the Mopar source I ordered from had an automatic reply....honestly as I think about it I am thinking because it is a generic PCM that is not progreammed to my VIN is why I got that message.

I think my fear is unfounded.

Thank you for the help.

If you want to clone your own ECU, you can purchase the tools to do it yourself for less than $150.

You have to purchase a Chinese clone of a scanmatik 2 pro, and use pcmflash version 1.20

You can get the clone scanmatik 2 pro from here:
US $37.14 25%OFF | SM2 PRO J2534 VCI PCM ECU Programmer Dongle 67 IN 1 ECU Read&Write V1.20 EEPROM FLASH BENCH OBD Update SM2 Hardware 12V/24V
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mPGnnQI

Make sure to choose option (new full set).

If anyone is interested in learning to do it this way, please let me know and I will assist you..
Justin is the man. Longest time was waiting for ALI-Express, they left out the USB Dongle in my first order..... so had to order Dongle in a second order.
1. Installed software
2.disconnected batteries,
3.Pulled PCM, hooked harness up to computer, copied files, installed files on new PCM......

4. Installed Original to its mount, connected clone laying on top of fuse box, reconnected batteries and cycled start button 3 times to pressurize fuel system then started it to confirm no lights.
5. Disconnected batteries and then connected original PCM, reconnected batteries and cycled start button 3 times to pressurize fuel system.

All done ( not even sure if I need the extra fuel pressurization cycle but figure it wont hurt if I just make it a habit anytime I disconnect the Battery) Banks I-Dash showed no diagnostic faults, and I had no extra red lights when starting up.

Even with my ordering error still only $213 with shipping for PCM and then like $100 for the Ali-Express items(should have been less but I had to make two orders lol)..... no trip to dealership and no extra charges to do this...... and now I have the PCM files in a folder on the desktop in case I need to make another Clone.

Problem to me is that everyone will swear by the tune they got without knowing what they got or changed in it. This is because tuners are selling cookie cutter tunes instead of a tune that fits one need. So if they let out what’s being changed everyone can copy it and they’re out of business. This is a terrible model for the consumer, especially when cookie cutter “tuning” are sold for the price of custom solutions nowadays. Complete obscurity from the business and complete trust from the customer doesn't sound appealing to me.

For example, switching E G R off can be done in multiple ways but has rippling effect on the rest of the engine. I doubt this is handled correctly and the increased engine temp are dealt with for example, running richer also increase engine temp? So yeah more horsepower, but what about longevity?

AFAIK no one is recommending kits to lower oil/coolant temp, and the EcoDiesel already has overheating issues. I heard some just disable overheating protections so it doesn't derate, which is insane in my opinion. So in all and nothing I have a hard time trusting companies that work on secrecy and no good established info, only hearsay. There is no way to know they do things correctly or not. We’re just getting few older EcoD gen 1/2 with high mileage that are stock (talking about 250k+) but the tuned numbers are less obvious to find and trust since way more recent, and business for those company is at stake.

To top it all most Facebook groups about the EcoDiesel platform are owned/administered by the same tuning companies and posts are filtered before publication like an authoritarian regimen lol.

I wasn't even trying to rant ?
Justin has been a great help to me as well. But I did not follow up with anything for the reasons above.

Now I know, I'm not necessarily going to make friends on a tuning thread but would love to be proven wrong, send me your ECU flash memory so I can compare it with stock or forever trust your tuner ?
Oh, wait they lock consumers out of their own hardware, don't they?

@ParatusExpeditions I see exactly what you are saying, but do view some it in an opposite manor. I'm not the best with words, but here is my take.
1) They protect it, so not every Average Joe can start selling the tune. This is a company trying to make money. If it was completely open, EOC would fall as 10 would rise in it's place competing for quantity of units sold to make the rent.
2) Yes, they may all sell a cookie cutter tune, but all companies are selling a different cutter. EOC may turn off more than you would like, so go GDE (now that they have to comply). If you are "reckless", go that way (which this dude has had multiple companies under multiple names). All companies are going to tweak something a little different.
3) Fewer high mileage that are stock says something to me as well. The newer emissions are not about longevity. I think we can all agree on this. Tuning/Deleting is cheaper than repair in most cases. OEM parts and technicians time are not cheap. People can perform the tune task at home.

@ParatusExpeditions I agree on much of this but I haven't experienced any of what you describe with GDE or EOC. Both seemed to love discussing the technical aspects of the tunes they provide and they both answered a near endless amount of questions I had. This spanned a whopping 2 years of Q&A both via email and phone before I actually made a decision.

Unlike the realm of gas tuning on any popular platform where an e-tune is a handheld and $399 away via email, nobody tried to actually sell me on anything for my EcoD when it came time for tuning. The power gains, while certainly felt, aren't through the roof like you'd get on other F/I applications so it isn't like it's even appropriate or believable if one were to say "Go with mine, I'll net you 50 more wheel hp than the other guy". People on this platform care less about that and more about simplifying & mitigating risk.

I'm not trying to change your mind or anything of course, just felt it right to mention my experience with those two.

If anyone is near Ocala Florida, I'll be happy to clone your ECU for you. It will take 15 to 30 minutes. There will be no red security light on when finished. It will be identical to your factory ECU.
I sent you a note yesterday. I’m in Orlando and could use some assistance. Please check your inbox. Thanks

Be very wary with the SW that comes on the CD. One of the install packages ended up corrupting my OS and I had to perform a fresh OS install. Worked with Justinswidebody and got SW from him after getting my computer back up and running.
