At first I was happy they put a button there to disable the ESS. Until I would always forget to hit it until the damn engine would stop at a stop. So I unhooked the plunger. So much happier now. Doesn't effect anything else. My remote start works fine. The message briefly comes up after starting then goes away. All I have is the yellow alert light. And I don't even notice it. If I could remember to hit the button I would just do that but for some reason I never remember.

Yes there will be an icon on the display( A! ) but so what?
So what?
If you develop a real problem with the ESS system, you won't know it. Say the Auxiliary Battery is having problems? The first you'll know about it is if you happen to scroll through the warnings and see it, or when your electrical system goes crazy, and you happen to be on a highway at speed and lose control.

No thanks.

Well I guess you won't be doing any mods at all because " things could go
crazy " ! And that's fine but this is so minor compared to lifts and tires and
throttle control modules (which I just did and love) and Tazer and on and on . To each his own . Just trying to promote a simple way to fix something that alot of people hate .

Although you would probably never get caught and probably don't care, disabling or bypassing the ESS is illegal in some places. Some jurisdictions are starting to plug into your OBD2 port and look for any EPA related codes in order to pass inspection also.
I have a Smart Start Stop I purchased used from a fellow forum member for about half price. Works just fine and is legal for you few who might care about that legal crap. Like I mentioned most likely disabling the ESS by the hood plunger switch hack probably wouldn't ever result in any legal situation it might be something to keep in mind.

Yet another post bitching about people making posts bitching about ESS.
Jeep Gladiator Enough about the ESS ! ( Auto Start Stop) 1630659435350

I'm fairly certain we've reached the point where there are more posts complaining about people complaining about ESS than there are posts actually complaining about ESS.

Yea I get that but why do so many members here complain about ESS
when there's an easy fix ? That's why
I said there should be a sticky .
If you do a search for ESS there is a ton of posts . Mostly Tazer or just complaints. Hard to wade through.
Easy solutions. Don't press the brake pedal to the floor. Push the stop start button. Purchase a device. Take off your doors. Don't buy a vehicle with ESS.

I might be old but I can learn new tricks. Press Start, ESS Disable, set climate controls, adjust sound system. 10 seconds later at most, after scanning the indicators, warning lights and especially oil pressure, I am ready to go. No muss, fuss or grumbling and I get to move on to more importanat things. Just my 2c and prolly not worth a hill of beans.

I was told that doing this could cause issues with the ESS battery not being charged properly or it could cause issues with that battery in general and if it does that warranty wouldn't cover it. A technician at the dealership told me this when we were discussing people who have issues with vehicles that have the ESS on them and things they do to get to disable it when there is just a button to push to disable it. I'm not a technician or anything or a mechanic but I'm sure the Engineering Dept at FCA has some pretty intelligent people working for them that put that plug in place for a reason. I'm not sure why someone would want to do a hack like this when it only takes less than a second to push a button and you have no issues with anything, no battery worries or ESS failure and if it does fail you will know it when it does.
