Not a teardown, they wanted him to pay CN $3400 to just drop the pan, change the filter and fluid two times. That is very high in my view.

Well well…I got AMSOIL’s attention. They are investigating. I gave them FCA Case Manager contact info and they can communicate directly and get the low down on the engineer notes with ZF and dive into that discussion and shame of not being ZF approved.

I have two Ram EcoDiesel trucks, one is a 2015 and the other is a 2020. Both trucks use the ZF 8 speed transmission. There are many of us running Amsoil in the transmission with great results. I personally run Amsoil Signature Series ATL, but Amsoil also makes OE OTL for the same application.

Well well…I got AMSOIL’s attention. They are investigating. I gave them FCA Case Manager contact info and they can communicate directly and get the low down on the engineer notes with ZF and dive into that discussion and shame of not being ZF approved.
Be interesting to see if FCA gives them the time of day.

Be interesting to see if FCA gives them the time of day.
I bet they do. AMSOIL is big in racing and most every Motorsport. It gets to be a very very small world.

I’m sure both AMSOIL and FCA sponsorships cross paths.

My $$ is this picks up speed and OP gets the problem resolved quietly.

Over/under is two weeks and a day.

I can understand why someone might want to stick with ZF Lifeguard fluid, especially those of us with a 5 year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. I had the fluid changed at 89,167 miles and took a sample:

AMSOIL vitamins???? Investigating themselves and FCA having my warranty restricted because AMSOIL posted specification codes on their data sheet while not ZF manufacturer approved?? WTF! VITAMIN DIVISION????! I asked my rep what’s up with this?? Rep said, “ya, they’re into vitamins and in fact I have some of their fertilizer too. “

Im done, I’m past DONE. They have lost ALL CREDIBILITY with me. AMSOIL, if you’re reading this, go pound sand. I’ll go after this myself.

Who are you going to go after? If you can't get Amsoil to pay, it's all on you.

Let them investigate. Maybe they are pulling someone from another division to get an objective view. If they are advertising their fluid to be an equivalent, when the product manufacturer says it is not, that is a legal liability for them. You relied on their claim that it was an acceptable replacement, and see where it got you.

I can understand your frustration, but Amsoil is not to blame. Your transmission had problems long before Amsoil entered the picture.

You knew you had an issue and changed the fluid to try to mitigate this.

They should cover the transmission but at the same time you should have used factory fluid or swapped it back in once the issue got worse.

That really blows but at this point I would be looking into buying a used transmission.

Untwist your panties. I work for a high level Fortune 100 company. It is not uncommon in the corporate world to have unrelated divisions take over looking into another corporate divisions dealings to try and have some resemblance of a unbias audit/investigation, especially ones that involve potential legal, ethical and civil liabilities.

Short of third party deposition for a civil suit, it is more of a positive sign than a negative.

How effective remains to be seen. He is a 'manager' so presumably he's smart enough to review evidence and make a decision.

If you don't have it, I would request the decision from Jeep/ZF in writing. The important piece is ZF saying Amsoil is not an acceptable fluid. Give that to your attorney along with the Amsoil printed literature saying that it is an equivalent replacement.

Amsoil is not responsible for the transmission failure, but they are the only party left to legally go after due to their 'fraudulent' advertising. A good lawyer may be able to get them to pay for repairs in exchange for your silence regarding the matter.
