Easy to say because you live I an area that has 350 days of sunshine a year. And by the way, you're welcome. I, and every other taxpayer subsidized you solar panels and your EV. So it might be "free" for you but the rest of us paid for it.

My gas Jeep has more range issues than my Tesla tho....
I would need to stop in the gladiator 300 miles before my wife would in her PHEV Volvo.

PHEV. less than 5 minutes, then another 500 miles with far fewer emissions and way nicer driving. On 10 gallons of gas.

When you take on a project that is guaranteed to lose you huge amounts of money both in the short term and the long term, well....you get what you deserve. Maybe those fired Ford employees can find work on real vehicles, you know, ones that burn gas or diesel.

And my parents pure electric rivian can go 335 miles on a charge, and can get to 80% in 15 minutes. Do you drive 335 miles without stopping for lunch for 15 minutes? Think about it. Before you go on a rant about the cost of a rivian, I’m not arguing that. But the technology is amazing, and is coming around quickly. And my gladiator is worth more than a rivian at this point.

The lightning is a poor design, but your comments are idiotic. Diesel will be gone in our lifetimes. Just like leaded gas vehicles went away in our lifetimes. Get over it. Either make pewce with change or stay home and sit on your porch. My next daily driver will very likely be the Jeep Recon. The gladiator will become the truck - the camping and off roading rig.

Unless you are real young diesel will still be being used when you are no more.

The thing that people forget, and the reason why the world has become dependent on fossil fuels is because of the energy density they enjoy.

My 6000 pound gladiator can travel 5 miles on a tablespoonful of gasoline.

No battery technology comes remotely close to that. For that reason alone the internal combustion engine is going to be with us for a long time.

It is simply not possible to transport as much weight, for as cheap, as quick, as you can with internal combustion engines.

Just flat untrue. I cite fully electric buses for example. And the rivian has a higher tow rating than a hemi grand Cherokee. And a larger payload rating.

This. So many Infowars fans think you're "virtue signaling" when in fact you're sick of paying $500/mo to buy weapons for the middle eastern countries that hate us.
A lot of emotion and stereotyping there. And digging up politics again...

Putting a term in quotes doesn't make it invalid or untrue.

Electric buses are a failure. Most transit systems that have them, have stopped because of low availability.

We have an electric bus that runs from Reno to Carson City. At least 3 times a week it gets stuck in the Washoe valley.

So, the diesel bus has to go down and pick up the riders. I learned about that from a friend who is a LYFT driver, he has a nurse who usually rides that bus to work, but 3 times a week, he has to go get her.

She simply can't wait the hour or more it is going to take to get her back home.

On cold days they don't run it at all.

I think it's actually about 15 tablespoons per mile if your jeep gets about 17 mpg. Maybe we can start a trend of rating vehicle efficiency by using "MPT" or " miles per tablespoon".
