Gladiator fuel overflowing.

I always fill it back up before it gets to below an 1/8 of a tank. Running a gas tank dry is a no-no in any vehicle. And no, I don't overfill since that can throw a MIL code for the evaporative emissions system. Still, I will let you know what the dealer response will be regarding the "burping". Just curious to see if I get a different or similar responses as posted by Jimko71 and Homerun.

Running a gas tank dry is a no-no in any vehicle.

Most modern vehicles, but not necessarily applied to "any". Since most people don't know which would be harmed and which would not be, it's just smart to not do it.

I've found that around here, the issues happen mostly at stations that just don't keep up with regular maintenance on their equipment. I've found with my two JTs over time that it also matters how fast and how the nozzle is held. I also always try to park/stop by a pump where my truck's right side is a touch lower than the left. Most stations the concrete is pretty level, but where it's not, I never park to fill where the left side is even a little bit lower.

But I do understand and know - some of these have issues. It's proven there are problems with a few - and the fix seems to be varied. Doesn't appear to be one single "this will fix any JT that has fuel burping issues" and that's where the bigger problem is - you can't point to 20 cases and tell the dealer that this fixed every one of them.
I'd love to be able to measure actual tank pressures as these are being filled since the filler crosses over and enters at the bottom. At least some of these may be due to a surge situation where the flow that's pushing fuel against pressure in the tank is no longer pushing and the pressure in the tank pushes back.

Agreed! Also a lot has do with the training, knowledge, and experience of the mechanics. This has been a big variable from my 53 years of cars, trucks, bikes, and boats. I have one last free oil change from the dealership(Yes, some folk here don't trust the dealerships for this service) but I will be doing my own after this last free service. This is when I will ask them about my issue with gas "burping" out of the fill and I will post the response, maybe the "fix" if that happens.

Add me to the list on my 2023 Gladiator Sport S. I have about 2000 miles on it and has happened to me 3 times. This is unacceptable. Going to have to take it to the dealer soon. Sheesh....

Anything from dealer? Mine has done it here and there(like once every 5 fills at least) since new, 3 years now. It’s annoying, but when I took it in 2020 they said it was all fine. I hate going to the dealer now so I don’t even want to go until my burning coolant gets worse. I went recently due to burning coolant out of exhaust. I can smell
It on cold startup and I was missing coolant after a while. I can also smell a bit in the engine bay. They performed their tests and supposedly nothing. No emissions in cooling system, no coolant in oil. The shop foreman also smelled it at the exhaust and I’m like “so what now man you know it’s burning it?” He said until it throws a misfire check engine because of it, they can’t open up my motor to check out the head gasket or whatever it may be. Frustrating, but it runs fine and power is fine. Just annoying to have to worry about it on long trips. im at 41k miles by the way, coolant thing started at 38k about.

Anyway back to the fuel, today mine spit back and when I drove away, the tank wasn’t even full! I noticed the pump said 16. 5 gallons, even though my light was already on. Normally I can get 17 or more when I’m that low. So I hope my gauge isn’t off, but it was weird that it burped and not even full. If anyone finds out if there’s a TSB please update !

I never ended taking it to the dealer as I was planning on doing to be honest. I read so many reports on others having the same issue, I kind of gave up. However, when I would fill it with gas, I would run the pump fairly fast and once it stopped or automatically shut off, I stopped putting gas in it. That helped at most gas stations, however there were a few that I still had trouble with. In any event, your coolant problem sounds serious, like a bad head gasket at least. They should look into that. Waiting for a "code", to me is a lack of caring for their customer's vehicle at best.
I no longer personally have to be concerned about the gas issue, as I traded it in a few weeks ago on a different truck. I liked the Jeep, but for me, I needed a different truck. Good luck with yours, Miguel.

I wish I had a 20 gallon transfer tank then all I would do is fill it and transfer.

Mine splashes out 4 out of 5 fill ups. I've just learned to accept it. I'm driving this jeep into the ground so I'm not worried about a little fuel down the side lol.

Here 2020 Launch edition, in the last 6 months or so the fuel spill/overflow in each and all of the fuel ups. And this happens at different gas stations so it’s a Jeep problem not a gas station problem.
Any solutions?
