Don't pull the trigger a second time if you have a problem with overflowing. There's an sticker in your gas flap that says exactly this
Had a VW Golf TDI previously and diesel fills up way different than regular gas. You really have to wait a while after you initially fill it up to let the fuel settle. Unless there is a weird thing going on maybe people just aren't waiting for the gas to settle before trying to top it off?

I routinely do the no-no of topping off, never once has it burped back out or on me.

Don't have my JT yet but my 06 liberty does this every single time I put gas in it. not topping off, just when it clicks off when it's full it burps up a cup of gas.

Wife has a 16 trailhawk that has no problem.

I’ve got almost 8k on mine and it started overflowing probably 5 tanks ago and does it every time now. No matter the gas station or how I hold the gas nozzle. I even use the lowest “step” on the handle and it still does it.

my 07 JKUR was recalled when new for this issue. I think they installed a larger vent tube but can’t remember for sure. Whatever the recall replaced I never had another issue and I owned it until I bought the JT

Gladiator fuel overflowing.

How’s it going guys and girls. Just got a gladiator Rubicon. Is anyone else out there having a pretty good amount of fuel overflowing when the tank fills up while pumping gas.?. I know the Jeep House warranty but like many of us I like to avoid the dealer whenever possible. I know some jeeps in the past have had this issue but has anyone had it with a new models?
I don't think the nozzle goes in far enough, but I only have problems if I try to over-fill it. I fill at the slowest setting, and can get about a third of a gallon in after it shuts off. Any more than that and it starts to come back up.

Had the same thing on my very first fill up. I was trying to fill it to the top, and it doesn't like that. Just fill it until the nozzle auto stops the first time, wait a few seconds and then remove the nozzle.

Hello everyone!

I know some of you are hesitant to go to your dealers, but if you do choose to go, please feel free to let us know in a private message. We are happy to open a case and escalate it to a case specialist so they can help to resolve these concerns.

Kaitlin,
Thanks for engaging here.
Is this an issue Jeep is addressing. I hope to buy/order my JT in the next 30 days, depending on color and trim availability.

Thank you,
J-

Mine overflowed for the first time the other day. Not after a top off, it just didn't stop initially until gas was all over the place. Let me know if there is a recall issued.

Almost 2000 miles of re-fills and it wont even overflow when I tried to top it off a couple times (see thread/posts on my quest to get the stated 22gal capacity). I would say based on trying I have filled 1.5gal after the auto-shutoff engaged (that is keep re-engaging until it re-shuts off)

I just wait until it is almost full, then pull it out and spray it all over the side of the car.

But seriously, over filling is not god for the evap canister.

Leaving it running so the purge valve stays open may help assuming it doesn't throw a code for a lose gas cap in the process.

Happened to me the first time a couple days ago. Had about a half tank in and went to fill it up before a trip. Looked down when it clicked and it overflowed. I never top it off and only fill it under the slowest setting.
