I just spent a fortune (to me) to add a lift...wheels...tires...gear...you all get it. I cant garage it. I use a wheel lock...slow em down by what? 20-30 seconds...then they have to get thru my brake to wheel lock (cool one on amazon)...another 15-20 seconds...by then they may or may not have noticiced a little round grey cap thing under the steering wheel area (that if they open will show a bunch of pins) which if they are good at thier trade they will say "Oh F---. This has Ravelco installed. Lets move on". Or if they are trypical pieces of shit they wont know anything and when they jump start it...or use a cloned key...it aint going anywhere without the pin fob which stays with me.

Check it out... https://ravelco.com/ pricey but so was my lift.

I would normally say you’re right but another gladiator I know of what stolen with a Ravelco just yesterday. It was driven away not towed. Unfortunately it has not been recovered yet

I think it's because the installers are lazy as fuck. They just jam the wiring up in there and it is simple to figure it out and jump the pins.

If you don't spend 3 hours breaking the truck apart to BURY an immobilzer you're a hack.

I was there and helping the Ravelco installer.
I had to remove 3 components so he could get to the loom. and took 2 hours.
Can it be defeated. Yes. but with the 5 other devices I have including the drone mobile I will know someone is f-ing with my jeep.
Even if they disconnect the battery or tow it the drone mobile will tell me by text message what is happening and give me it location.
It is important to hard wire the drone mobile and not plugged into the OBD2 so it can be mounted any where in the jeep. It has its own battery.

Oh wow, sorry to hear this, but glad you were able to get the jeep back, but sounds like they also caught the f@$%^ too. This post i think really woke me up, I am going to add some extra layers and hopefully add some deterrence. Mine either lives in the garage, or is parked on base. I have a bypass for the garage opener power and have the faraday key case and fob pouch. Sucks having nice things sometimes. Once they get it into Mexico its over. I know a few years ago San Diego was hit hard and I remember a post of a guy who's Jeep got stolen and he found it posted for sale in Ghana.

Would a lockable cover for the star port work? I can probably design something if that would work.

That sucks. Glad you were able to get it back. I would say layered security:

Hood locks
Kill switch
Tazer with security pin with the key Fob enabled would prevent the new key from working
Zautomotive NoLimitz which blocks access to the RF Hub to prevent Key Programming. Not sure if the makes a difference in this case or not
GPS tracking

This one goes over the features a little more in depths and shows how the killbyfob works but uses a Challenger instead

Everything helps. I’ll buy one if you make it. To be honest, I’ve been wanting Tuffy to come out with a steel glove box like they make for previous jeeps.

My coworker (also a Gladiator owner) and I were just talking about this. Maybe some kind of metal box and relocating them. Haven't looked to see if that is possible but I probably will this weekend.

Tuffy makes secure steel glove boxes for JK and previous, but not JL/JT. I just talked to them and asked them why. They said demand, but if people want them to, we should email [email protected] and ask them to please start making them. If enough of us POLITELY request this, maybe it will happen. I’ve already sent mine.

Where was the Revelco socket installed? On the dash where it was obvious, or somewhere hidden?

I think that if a potential thief doesn't see a Revelco connector and goes through the process to program a key and can't get the Jeep to start, they'll assume they did something wrong and most likely move on in the interest of time.

At least that's my current logic - considering a hidden Revelco and NOLIMITZ - but not committed to anything yet.

RAVELCO!!! it's great if its installed properly, I have it in my JT & my parents have it on there wrangler and my Dad has had one on his Power Wagon for 16 years, no issue. Oh and locking hood latches. When its installed properly it should be routed through a steel loom also. I too am in San Diego. I am very leery about where i park it. But i do also have electric gates around my house, (not a great neightborhood anyway) so i have that extra layer of security. Glad it was recovered.

hello all

two days ago I was extremely fortunate to be out walking my new puppy when I saw my Jeep pass by down the street between two buildings.
fortunately it's such a bright color and so highly modified it that I recognized it out of my peripheral vision and looked up and managed to verify not only that it was in fact Nacho.Diesel but I also observed the driver and another vehicle closely following it. I immediately called 911, the officers arrived in just a few minutes and in working with some federal agencies and the power of social media, the Jeep was located and seized from the thieves just as it was entering Mexico approximately 40 minutes later.

I was asked not to add many more details as there will be legal proceedings BUT what I can say is the thieves broke out my d side window, climbed over to passenger compartment and accessed the terminal behind the glovebox to make a new key. I don't know approximately how long it took for this to happen but I do know the Jeep was seen still parked approximately 30 minutes before I saw it driving by.

I have been splitting my time since dealing with the incredible officers dealing with my situation, getting glass replaced and doing a ton of research between short anxiety filled naps where I make myself get up and go check on the Jeep. I am looking for any and all ideas on how to both electronically and mechanically deter theft.

For my own anxiety's sake and for the rest of our incredible community, please toss in ideas or any experience with things you've tried or heard about

TIA

A massive exaggeration from someone who doesn't even appear to live there...
Hover over their name, one click to ignore, lol. They can rant like a toddler for clicks all they want at that point. Anywhos, back to a sane conversation.
