I'm just memorializing this for anyone who may run into the same issue.

2023 Rubicon, 21,xxx miles.

I ran over to the local grocery store 2 weeks ago. I looked down, and my "Rear locker disconnect" light was on in the dash, and the light was flashing at the switch in the console. I hadn't touched it, nor had I locked the rear axle.

I drove it home, with no indication that the axle was locked.

The next morning, I started the truck again, and the light was off... until I made a 90 degree turn. The light and console both flashed again.

I called my local dealership (Beaman CDJR in Murfreesboro, TN). The intake guy was super helpful, seemed to know exactly what it was, and told me to bring it in.

I dropped it off at about 8am that morning. It was ready to go at noon.

One of what was described as a suite of sensors had failed, and they fixed it right away.

EDIT: This failure happened with a Taser JL installed. The code clearing commands didn't work with this.

I removed the taser prior to taking my truck to the dealership.

I have the same issue on my 21 Mojave (52,000 miles). I purchased the tazer Z locker harness that should fix it, but I haven't installed it yet. I am curious what other sensors they replaced besides the locker sensor in the rear pumpkin?

Thank you. I’ve been running with this issue in my Mojave for a bit haha. I assume this was a warranty repair for you but did you happen to see what the nominal repair cost was?

I'll edit my post, but I had a taser JL (NOT the harness) in mine and it wasn't able to clear the code.

Had this on my 21 Mojave. The Z-locker fixed the light. It still locked and unlocked like it should.

Looks like it was around $475 but there was no labor component on the invoice.

The "suite of sensors" he was talking about was probably just the one sensor. The kit comes with five sensors that are, apparently, all slightly different and you have to use trial and error to determine which one is correct for the axle. The other four do not get used.

I just had mine replaced under warranty. The tech got it fixed on sensor 4 out of the 5 he had to try. I wonder why there are 5 different sensors and no way to identify which one you need without trial and error.

Ours failed in August of 2023 after towing trailer on long road trip during a hot spell. Bought it in June 2019. Around 125,000 km. I just got around to putting a new sensor in. It used the # 1. Too bad there’s no market for the other 4. Definitely a real failure on Jeeps part that this has been going on since the JK’s.

Best guess would be each sensor has a slightly different pickup location to set the proper gap or alignment between it and the magnet on the actuator, thus allowing for variation in manufacturing tolerances.

I am dealing with this now. I fear the deal will not do it under warranty. See my mods. How hard is it to replace the sensors?

Pull the diff cover. It's on the right side of the carrier. On the bearing cap. One bolt and it's off.

Looks like Z automotive makes a repair that fixes it without pulling the cover. Just a plug and it's done wiring change at the diff.
