Got mine replaced a week and a half ago. Just ran it through the car wash for the first time yesterday and while checking for leaks I noticed this…

The dealer is gonna check with the glass guy on Monday but if doesn’t have it they say the can’t get one without ordering the entire window.

This was not my idea, but here is a video on how you do it.

This is a really cool idea! I'm going to do mine just for that added level of protection. I saw something similar for around the fenders too to prevent small rocks getting stuck between fender and body and causing a rust issue. I wonder if it would be worth while doing it on the top where the freedom panels meet up. I have often wondered about that with my own rig as in winter it makes some really awful sounds after water freezes all over the top and in the cracks.

Yeah, I would be pissed about that. These tops are not conducive to multiple window replacements before something else with the top starts to get damaged. When I had my 2020 JT rear window replaced, I found my top cracking at the rear passenger door arch radius like they used their hand as leverage there to push out the old window. I sold it before I got around to getting that issue addressed.

They are just going to chuck another window at it if they cannot get or figure how to replace the latch. If me, I would almost be considering asking for a whole new top with a window with maybe a credit cost of the window and paying out of pocket for the difference.

The gap on mine is filled with a piece of rubber vacuum hose, and I don't notice anything weird about the water flowing down over the rear window. I'm sure the water flow is different, but it's an acceptable tradeoff for not having water flow down the inside of the window.
What size hose did you use ? 7mm od?

I had my factory glass replaced in 2021 and it started leaking again. I tried the 7mm OD tubing but the replacement glass must not have been installed the same as the factory. I found the 7mm tubing was way too small for the gap at the top of my glass and way too big for the gaps along the sides. I'll need a different solution.

my 2020 is leaking. I thought i had noticed it a long time ago and reported it to the dealership a while back who was supposed to contact me back. I didnt notice it anymore and forgot about it all. Now its been raining a couple days and ive been driving in it, and yep water dripping every few mins. I got back there with my phone light and looked. There are several small cracks in the trim around the window in the hard plastic looking stuff. Is that what is causing it??

This happened to mine as well, but luckily I noticed it the next day and the dealership was able to remove the latch off of my old one and install it on the new one. I figured mine was just a fluke, but now that I've seen a couple of them, it seems like everyone needs to check theirs if they get a replacement.

Just talked to the glass guy and i’m gonna bring it to him tomorrow so he can do the same thing. Take the latch from my old window and install it on the new one.

LOL! ?

I brought this to my dealer’s attention shortly after I hit the 3-year mark, but well within my extended warranty.

They told me they would start by charging $185 to spray it with a hose to verify the leaking. Then, I could be presented the opportunity to either put that soaking wad of 185 bucks towards a much more expensive replacement of the exact same part with the exact same flaw, or I could leave the $185 with them, to further reinforce my regret of purchasing both the FCA truck and the FCA warranty.

I did the flowable silicone and the hose fix, and just swapped the whole thing for my soft top. I love that the soft top—which is basically tinker toys with a raincoat thrown over it—works better than the hard top when it comes to water intrusion.

Oh, and if you are wondering why I would have to pay for these types of repairs even though I have some sort of fancy-pants extended manufacturer warranty, it is because “glass” isn’t covered…

I enthusiastically offered to demonstrate that the GLASS is not allowing water to pass through itself, and it is in fact components completely distinct from the glass which are passing water. The service writer was not entertained. I think I’ll send them dribble glasses for Christmas.
