I try to use the button to disable the start stop each time but... I would like to have something to make the selection stay. It seems there are two prominent disablers. Auto start stop disabler and 4d tech. Which one is better and are they trouble free and lasting?

Haven't heard of either of those, but most of these devices simply allow the truck to retain/remember the state of the ESS between drives. Not a lot of room for the "best" or "worst" conversation there. Just go with the simplest, cheapest option if the ESS functionality is all you're concerned with.

SmartStartStop is a forum sponsor here. I have the AutoStop Eliminator which I purchased before I knew there a forum sponsor. I don't know which is best. I installed mine the first week of ownership on a new 2023 Gladiator and I never had to press that button again!

The original. Email him and tell him you are a member here and you may get a discount. Product is worry free.

The Amazon ones for cheaper are just that, cheap. Faulty wiring shorts and numerous failures often reported. Do not go by the reviews on amazon, they are not real.

I installed the Smart Stop Start on my 2021 Mojave about 4 years ago. Simple installation. It works great with not a single hiccup.

I did the Tazer because I knew I was gonna change tire height, wanted my fogs on with high beam and kill the stop/start. I like it. Others here use Jscan. Depends on your future needs I guess.

I picked up the cheapest one I could find off Temu and it works just fine. Which implies - they all probably work just fine.

One note I always make to people asking this question again: think ahead. I did not. So I got the ASS eliminator. Then I rigged up a custom relay to my license plates lights to turn them off in reverse. I keep doing these individual fixes - till now I'm at the point where I telling myself, "I should have just got a Tazer".

It does all those things - and more. For example, "live" features such as disable triple honk can ONLY be done with a Tazer. So a component work around isn't even an option there.

So now I'm kicking myself for just not getting a Tazer the first place and being done with all these settings changes (and more) with one stop shopping. The only thing keeping me from turning off that annoying triple honk is my pride (which will eventually give in and I'll break down and buy the damn Tazer anyway)

Take a lesson from me. ASS is not the only thing you'll want to disable/enable someday. Even if you don't know it just now.

If you think you’d want other functionlity…. Take a look at the Tazer.

Currently, I only use it to disable the start/stop and disable the HONK when you exit the vehicle while it’s still running. It does a shitload more…. and I may use more later.

I used a Autostop Eliminator and have been pleased with the results for the two years it has been installed. But I do have a Alpha OBD, and it does quite a few functions, but not some of the live functions of the Tazer.

On the other hand, I do need the three honks when leaving the Jeep running. I once left, not making this up, a car running when my wife and I went on a cruise. With over a half tank of gas, I figure that it idled for at least a couple of days. I absolutely could not hear it running. I have been almost deaf for nearly 50 years, a d the car had a very quiet exhaust.

Last week I had the Tazer disconnected for other unrelated reasons. No doors, no top while driving through the mountains on the way to some clients in Gatlinburg. As I was leaving the first stop, I got distracted by an old FJ in a parking lot. I started chatting up the guy who got out of it from my drivers seat with my foot on the brake. Truck stopped without me even realizing it. I had become so used to the Tazer and the start/stop being off that I legit almost jumped completely out of the non-existent drivers side door to take a better look at his FJ before the truck auto-started when I pulled my foot off the brake. Scared the shit out of me.
