I have a 2021 Jeep gladiator with very minor surface rust on the frame. Was looking into Ziebart undercoating since I’m in NJ with all the salt and road debris that’s known to rust frame quickly. Any help or information would be great thank you.

Personally, I have always lived in the northeast and have never under-coated a vehicle. I crawl under my jeep each fall and spring and spray any exposed metal that is showing minor surface rust with Fluid Film (Boston, MA) and have no complaints or issues.

Had my 2020 done and there was zero rust under that truck when I traded it over 2 1/2 years after buying it. Iowa winters. The roads are made of salt and they spray brine so thick it slashes out several feet when you drive through it.
Had my 2022 done as well.
I still drive a 1982 car that had factory Ziebart done (doesn't hurt that in the 1980s they galvanized the rocker panels and all panels below mid-section as well as the undercoating)

Some hate it, I've lived with it for the whole time I've been driving and every vehicle I had treated was fine by the time I traded it. The ones I didn't have treated were the only ones with frame and body rust when I traded them. My F250 was not treated - frame rotted badly. Chevy was treated, 8 years later when I traded it, rust-free.

Care helps, too - keep the boxed areas, channels clean of sand and dust and dirt. There are always drain holes- keep them open and washed out. Biggest killer of cars and trucks is when moisture gets trapped between panels or in boxed areas along with dust and dirt and sand and is held there for hours or days and can't dry out.
I've had to replace sections of floors in classic cars - the rust was only where the floor panels over-lapped and were spot welded together. What's that say when the single layer of floor was perfectly fine and the rust started between the panels and worked UPWARD.

That works to if you are diligent and catch all of the suspect areas where panels overlap, boxed areas, channels and so on.
Seeing how the rocker panels on these things are made in multiple sections, that's an area I'm always going to be suspicious of - panels overlap and are spot welded together. These rocker panels are multiple part, a lot of that type of joint so if the bodies are going to go from salt and grime, that will be the area.

I thought they got sued out of existence like rusty jones. Their stuff is a joke.
Paint it.
If that doesn’t satisfy then make up some waxoyl and go to town.

I’m a fan of fluid film as well, but I think waxoyl works better and is cheaper if you make it yourself (boiled linseed oil and toilet rings). It’s all I ever used on my rovers and it worked on that crappy British steel.

Find your closest Krown applicator, pay $140 and they’ll do undercarriage, inside body and bed cavities and engine bay. Forget about rust then repeat in 2 years.

Truck is sold but here is the rear after 50k miles, most in the Poconos where they throw everything at the roads each winter. No restrictions so salt, anti-skid, brine wash, sand and char.

I watched an episode of graveyard cars or bitchin rides, can’t remember which… they had a car that had been professionally undercoated decades earlier and were shocked how effective it was.

I've touched up my 82 here and there where the undercoating flaked away a bit (good grief, ya expect perfection after FORTY YEARS?!?!?!?)
The car got 10 out of 10 undercarriage points at the AMO international show. No rust.

Again, no treatment is a treat it and leave it situation, though. Anything can be scratched, scraped, rubbed, crack and peel, and so on and need to be touched up or reapplied.

Here is my 1970 -pics taken about 5-10 years ago.
This car started out in PA and ended up in MN before I bought it in about 2005.

I agree just get one of the many rust proofing paints that are available and do it yourself. I did this on my 77 Trans Am myself with KBS coatings and it was pretty easy. The Jeep would be even easier given its height. As it's under the car it doesn't have to be absolutely perfect, plus I imagine you'll do as good of a job as the professionals by taking your time.

I got my JT Ziebarted right after I got it. The same with my '99 Dodge 4x4, and my Power Wagon.
