Multiple reasons I won't be buying one, but good there are options.

Didn't realize acceleration was the only category to consider in automotive design. Audi and Porsche don't include transmissions for speed, they do it for efficiency. Want to eliminate range anxiety? Then you need more range. One of the ways to get it is to be more efficient at higher speeds. Transmissions do that for EVs just as well as ICEs.
The range advantage can be matched by having a slightly larger battery. Yes, the larger battery will cost more, but so does a transmission. I'll take the slightly larger battery over the added complexity (adds a substantial potential failure point and requires additional maintenance) of adding a transmission any day.

I’ve wondered for a long time why a paradigm like REPB hasn’t been pursued by any manufacturer before. It’s the method used for diesel/electric locomotives, and has been for like 90 years. Having a stable onboard source of electricity to power/drive traction motors on the wheels makes perfect sense to me.

I'll pass on any sort of EV. It takes what to mine it? Diesel power, and electricity from the grid to manufacturer it. It's horrible for the environment. It also takes (clean burning coal) cough cough ? to run electric plants which then have to be used to process. If a leach pond breaks absolutely everything is destroyed in the vicinity.

Really good article
Edit: Not to mention that it takes electricity to also charge these EV batteries and where does that come from? Fossil fuels? It obviously doesn't come from all solar farms. Plus it takes up to 40 minutes to make a battery charged up to 80% I think I was told.

I noticed this as well:
(not exactly great news - not seeing much info on the GME-T6 at all)

Wonder what that Pentastar Upgrade will be.

Toyota is bringing the X-Runner back with the TT I6 from the Tundra.........so Toyota is going to win the HP/TQ game in the mid size segment

It is surprising that it didn't start that way instead of the complexity of current hybrids. Ford even had that patent for the Lightning right away for a removable "range extender" for the bed

The use case for EV's was, and still is as city cars. For city cars why add the cost, weight, maintenance, and complexity of a gas engine when 200 miles will cover the use case. I'd still say that it doesnt really make sense when you can instead use a mild PHEV to achieve the majority of cost savings and greenhouse gas reduction at a usually lower price point. The Range Extender EV really doesnt make a lot of sense to me from when i'd want that over just a PHEV.

Ah yes, Chevron Brand Champion and Newsmax writer Lauren Fix. A totally unbiased article ?

Looking
New 2028 Wrangler and no Gladiator mentioned, fairly expected. :(

New upgrades, new opportunities to keep the hope alive.
