Wonder if Gladiator will have a new hybrid setup or same as the current 4xe.
Ram just announced the 1500 hybrid which is a series hybrid vs. the parallel hybrid that the 4xe is. I would guess this new system will be what to expect for the REPB hybrid for 2028. Not sure what to expect for the 4xe PHEV Upgrade coming in 2025 though.

Funny you say that because we Actually drove a used Q8 E-Tron at the same dealership we test drove the Model S and I have to agree with everything you stated about the finishes being better. The Tesla Has more HP and take off than the Q8 plus more range and is actually significantly cheaper than the Q8. I do like the Audi's though but I'm not in the $70,000 range for a 3rd option. The Model S is in the $40,000-$45,000 range and the model 3 is around $35,000-$40,000 and that's pretty much our in our budget. We maybe would push it to $50,000 for the right one but no more than that. I'm trying to buy a Porsche 911 as soon as the Gladiator is paid off so I got to keep the Budget right in planning for that.
You can find used e-trons (many pre-leased) in the mid $30s and still under warranty. We picked up a 2019 e-tron with 23k miles and 2 years factory warranty still left on it for $34k and change. Loving it so far.

Interesting video on the Ram future powertrain options. Watch at the 8 minute mark where they talk about what sounds like the REPB powertrain.

To get the tax credit you got to buy a 2021 or newer one based on the new tax laws so that's what we are looking at, a 2021 to 2022.

This or a Model S if you really want to have fun
I put a sub in a buddy's Plaid Model S which required me to have it for a few days, and I must say, they are scary fast. It is a remarkable piece of equipment.

Will only consider parting with the diesel if they offer the hurricane. Period.
Agreed, the sub-20 mi 4xe-range really wouldn't move the needle for me, although I'm sure some would bite because of the acceleration. I'm still not convinced they can make the 2.0L4xe work in the JT.

Hahaha WHICH IS REAL? It's even the same author.

Just shows you how slanted and opinionated all these articles are that everyone keeps linking in here. Truly has been a shit show of a thread in that regard. You can find an article to "support" any position you want. They're meaningless these days.

I mean damn, as soon as we were acting like a Chevron-paid brand ambassador (Lauren Fix) was impartial, this thread was destined for the toilet.

A Glad 4xe is a hard pass for me (and that is not because of the rhyme!) ;)

No one talks about it because it's a strawman argument that is not based on facts, just more fearmongering. The grid can not handle the entire fleet switching to EVs at once right now, that's true. But even if there actually was a mandate that happened tomorrow saying all new cars have to be EV, it would be decades to transition the US fleet of cars to ev. In the mean time the grid would adapt, expand, and modernize just as it's done to continue to provide power to a burgeoning population.
EXACTLY! Adding a new home to the grid adds far more load to it than an EV charger - and yet you sure don't hear any fearmongering about that (and new homes are going up at a record pace in my area). I work for a large electric/gas utility and you better believe they are licking their chops at the additional revenue they plan to earn as a result. They absolutely WILL add new generation to keep up with demand - and indeed already are - and much of it is renewable energy... solar and wind farms, pumped storage, etc. That's all great, but the real future is SMRs (Small Modular Reactors - Google it). Expect this to become a BIG thing in the next 10 years as it is the BEST source of reliable, constant non-emitting generation. It produces 24/7 - even when the sun isn't shining and the wind isn't blowing - and utilities won't have to take the huge financial risks of building traditional large reactors. SMRs are coming... bet on it.

I know I’m in the minority but my JTRD is in the shop getting the recall done and they gave me a loaner ā€˜23 GC L-4Xe summit…what a horrible drivetrain. It never feels like it’s knows what to do electrically or with its turbo-4. I’ve been averaging 19-20mpg and requires premium which is currently $0.20 more expensive than diesel. It seriously feels like a dumpster fire of a powertrain and impossible to drive smooth. The regeneration braking makes it feel like you’re hitting the brakes if you ever lift your foot off the gas (not riding them gently like most EVs). All this complexity to get -6 or -7mpg worse then my diesel Gladiator. Maybe I’m missing something.

How about a 540 HP Hurricane Hybrid. That might be tempting.

Premium not required, like all turbo engines you'll gain a bit of power on premium (5ish percent or less) but it will retard timing to run on 87 just fine. Manual says as much as well.

Turn off max regen if you don't like the max regen mode btw, will make it act like what you're used to instead. Max regen is like 1 pedal driving in other EVs, designed to brake hard not be gentle.
