“On the outside, Jeep’s midsize pickup doesn’t change much. A new stealth antenna integrated into the front windshield replaces the previous steel mast antenna, eliminating brush or tree limb snags on the trail. The seven-slot grille wears an updated look with black textured slots that improve cooling. Also, seven new wheel designs are available.”

Windshield prices about to go up. Affects both the Gladiator and Wrangler. Interesting choice.

Well - they did it 30-40 years ago on Chevrolet trucks. It's hardly a fresh idea.

That windshield is $160 these days.

Edit: Had me wondering where my antenna was in my Camaro. It's in the back window. $350 for that one (antenna / defrost / tinted. GM OEM glass).

Where is the antenna going?
Remove it from the body...

But seriously this shouldn't be a surprise, this was essentially announced last year when the Wrangler did it for the 2024 models. There's no way the Gladiator was going to stay different.

It’s more to do with how many times you usually have to replace a windshield in a jeep during one’s ownership. I understand other car companies have been doing it for years.

also, I don’t care either way. I just thought it was interesting place for Jeep to put an antenna. No more need for the stubby purchase.

I must be lucky. I've replaced one windshield in seven years and 100,000 miles of owning Jeeps.

Everyone is so worried about the antenna in the windshield making it cost more but most of the trim levels also come with forward collision avoidance. There is a defroster element in front of the sensor for that system. Adding an antenna isn't any more complicated than making that glass with the defroster element in it.
The forward collision system has been on the option list for previous years. People used to say that just having that system makes for a more expensive glass replacement because of "sensor recalibration" but that isn't really true either since that sensor is attached to the roll structure and not the glass itself like on most cars (it stays in place when the windshield is folded)
Adding an AM/FM antenna to that glass isn't a big deal from a manufacturing standpoint.

you are, I was going on 4 years with no replacement and suddenly I had a crack, a replacement, and then a second crack all within 6 weeks

no bueno on making the windshield more expensive

QFT.

Seriously, this is something that everyone should have on their insurance regardless of the vehicle. Mine is rolled into comprehensive I think... and I don't have a deductible for that either. I had my BMW's windshield replaced twice and that is substantially more expensive than the Jeep... and it cost me zilch out of pocket.

I hope the Jeep antenna is better than the one in the 70s GMCs

A front windshield antenna is not that much of a compromise on FM but on AM you take a reception hit. The front windshield with collision avoidance package is already a stupid price, it cost me just under $1k and a couple of hours for the guy to recalibrate the collision avoidance stuff. Adding an antenna will cost even more.
