I let the indicator get between 40% and 25%, and ugga-dugga the wheels at the same time. I check brakes, bolts, tire wear / alignment, air filters; keep/review maintenance logs for anything else that might need attention. There is no glory nor reward for running the oil until it’s spent.

if I had to pay someone else to do it, I might go more to the range of <25% remaining.

that oil life indicator is supposed to take into account things like heat, load, and other factors ( not just miles ), so my oil changes end up being around/after the 7k mark.

I'm actually more curious when you change out transfer case, tranny, and differentials fluids...do you stick to the intervals the manual specifies?
The transmission and rear diff I change out every 30K miles. Unless I wheel alot, the transfer case and front diff fluid I push out to every 60K miles.

I will say from experience, it behooves one to crack the fill plugs on both diffs and the transfer case and make sure they are filled to the top and dribble out. A lot of times, they are factory filled to a minimum service level and not to the full service level to save a few $$. On two of my prior Gladiators, the rear diffs came underfilled 1/2 to 3/4 of a quart underfilled. Transfer case, not so much but had to add a few oz's to top them off.

I have done two 30K mile transmission fluid and filter changes and they were at proper levels from the factory.

I do oil changes at 50% and 0%. It's about 3-4k miles each.

5k would be my limit until I'm Bored and want to tinker.

I’ve always wondered when was the last time an engine problem was directly due to oil failure/old oil?

saying something like - I’ve always changed my oil at 3,000 miles and never a problem is simply fun facts, and perhaps helps people sleep better at night. But it doesn’t prove changing oil that frequently accomplishes anything other than sending good oil to the recycle depot.

Those that run their Jeeps at high rpm’s, crawl over rocks, pull overloaded trailers, or other engine stressing conditions might go fewer miles between changes.

I figure the folks that built the engines know a thing or two and designed the software to detect when your oil has had it.

I do like the do it all at once routines mentioned above - change oil/filter, rotate tires.

At every 5k I do an oil and filter change along with a tire rotation on an alternating "front-back" or "X"

This is my second Gladiator. I did the first oil change at about 3k miles. I ran it down to 25% oil life, just over 6k miles, and then used one of my Wave changes and tire rotations. I'll do another change this summer, and then back to the dealer in the winter for the other Wave change before it expires. I'll have to decide by then how long I'm going to keep this one and how much maintenance to do.

My first Gladiator had the first oil change done around 6k miles. All but two of the changes were done by the dealer. Other than air filters, batteries, and fuel system cleaner, I didn't do any other maintenance. It was running great with a quiet engine when I traded it in at 4.5 years with 57k miles on it.

I’m the same way….5,000 miles or 1 year (whichever comes first).

I owned A 2016 GMC Canyon that had the oil live monitor…. In the winter…it’d be telling me to change the oil every 3,500 miles!! In the spring, summer… It’d give me 25% left after 5,000 miles. Sooo weird…..

Funny thing is…. after the dealership would do the oil change, they’d hang that sticker in the windshield that would tell you date & mileage of the next change. They’s ALWAYS put 5,000 miles…..

Go figure… the Dealership service department doesn’t even follow it!!

I have noticed that my JT's oil life monitor seems to show a quicker drop in oil life in the winter versus the summer. I'm assuming that the oil life algorithm may look at oil temperature over a drive cycle, and a lot of my cycles are fairly short.

I just can't bring myself to run the oil much over 5k. I just changed it again, with 5,200+/- on it while the oil life indicator was at 41%. Anybody else stuck in this mindset? The whole "it's cheap insurance" thing is something I've subscribed to with all of my vehicles. But in this era of rampant inflation, I"m considering extending service intervals on everything but I seem to have a mental block on this, especially with this particular Jeep.
I change my 2022 Gladiator Diesel every 2500 miles. As a wise man once said “Oil is cheap, engines are not”

I figure the folks who build these things want to claim low cost of ownership/maintenance and I also figure they’d rather I get a new one every couple of years versus it lasting me a lifetime which would cut into their profits.

the conspiracy theorist in me says to change it every 5k.

I did the first one at 2k, then the next at 4K. Now I'll go every 5 k. But I do a lot of short time drives during the week for work. So during the school year , depending on my miles , I'll do it every 4k.
