I would definitely have to sell something.

Like I said, I keep 0 dollars cash, not a single penny in a bank account other than what I need to pay my bills, it hits long enough to pay, clear, and goes right back to 0.

So I would have to sell something, borrow against something... But I have things to sell and borrow against, as most adults should.

Unless they've already leveraged everything they have for Doordash and HVAC side by sides and campers and boats.
I'd have to hock my Camaro SS (an extra vehicle). That would cover 2/3rd of it. I can scrounge the rest.

I agree - if I didn't have cash, I always had *things* that I could sell or barter.

We try to keep our borrowing to things like vehicles to drive (and not violently expensive ones - just ones that do the job) and necessary large home repairs. I guess the one exception to that was the tractor - but I made the argument that I could at least make that break even with a couple side jobs a month 😂

I guess another way of saying this is, if you can't come up with 30k, you probably don't need to worry about anyone selling a 5.7 Gladiator in any form.
Don't trample my dreams. I've got $10K in equity in the Gladiator. It's a start 😂

I think I could understand this better if you told me that you throw all your leftover cash into the stock market. lol

That's almost as good as liquidity since you could sell and cash out any day of the week but, if that's not the case, sounds like dangerous living.
There's more ways to park value than cash or stocks.

What's dangerous to me is sitting on cash politicians happily pee away the value of at 8,9,10% a year while telling us they're helping us.

But to each their own.

I wonder haw many that say AMW is charging more than its worth have actually done the math?

You're going to have roughly 10k just in the cost of a crate 5.7 and reman'd 8HP75 alone (after taxes, shipping fees, ect.). Can't really give an accurate cost of all the additional stuff like custom intake, exhaust, A/C lines, mounts, rad assembly, PCM tuning, etc., but lets just toss a rough guess of another $10k for all of that combined. Now we're at $20k. That leaves another 10k for labor and shop fees, which considering the work involved is probably pretty on-par for any shop rate, and I'd argue its probably more reasonable compared to most custom fabrication shops out there.

So, is a $30k price tag a lot? Not really.

It literally states on AMW website they use the 8HP75, which is the same trans in the diesel.

I guess the question is WILL they swap a diesel. My guess is it will cost a little more because they'll need to either source gasser parts like fuse blocks, mounts, etc, or they'll have to do custom work since battery, fuse box, intake etc are all in different locations.
So call & ask?

What are some examples?

I'm not saying to keep large amounts of cash as your investment plan but keeping 0 cash and betting that you can sell used stuff to come up with quick cash is a risky plan and reeks of desperation. Desperation sales = (more often) you lose big.

I'd rather hookers and blow than gold and silver. lol gold may be recession proof if you can find a buyer that isn't going to undercut current prices. People can't eat gold and gold buyer's during times of hardship know that.

Unless the EcoDiesel has already blown up, why would anyone pay for a swap? If you need/ want more power a simple tune will get you near the 5.7L hp and much more torque for under $2k. If I could get the 3.6L anywhere close and it still be reliable (I know the supercharger kits advertise more power than the 5.7L, but I wouldn't trust the 3.6L pushed that far) for $10k, why would I drop $30k on a 5.7L swap?

I wouldn't suggest eating hookers either (high risk of food born illness).

I'm not about to waste their time when I'm not looking at the moment.

Agreed. If the frame and such looks fine when my ecoD dies I will probably look into a swap, but for now theres no reason to waste AMW time calling and asking.

I also doubt MN winters will allow me to keep the truck long enough to even worry about it lol

At the minimum, cook until 165* internal, as checked with an instant thermometer.

Metals, crypto, collectibles, and stocks are where all my short term assets stay.
Livestock is a great investment right now also. My uncle says it is going for sky high prices.
