Got the TSB applied today, new shocks all around and new front bump stops. I've only driven it maybe 5miles but the ride with the new shocks does seem less harsh over rough/uneven road, maybe a bit more floaty though. Could just be a placebo.

I'll try to take it over some speed bumps and through my typical bottoming out roads tonight.
Just shocks and front bump stops. No springs?

I did some short testing tonight, definitely an improvement. It's no Mojave by any means but I'm happy to consider this issue resolved. Speed bumps that I couldn't take at 5mph without harsh bottoming out are now good at 15mph. Huge dips (v-shaped) that I'd harshly bottom out at 2-3mph before are good at the 8-10mph range. And now frame bottom outs are much softer, you can feel them but it doesn't feel like metal on metal now.

If I wanted better I'd probably have to lift it as it looks like I still only have around 3" of up travel (I'll measure over the weekend). But I'm trying to enjoy the truck in it's stock form for a few years.

Probably worst case scenario for front end weight. JTRD Stock with metal rubi bumper(with wings), winch plate & 10k winch (synthetic line).

This is Frikken Brilliant!! I was wondering how to get my wife to ok the suspension lift and new tires after we just spent$XXX+first born on a new Gladiator! It makes it look so important posting it on the Forum like that, it's so "Official" looking. Nudge nudge wink wink ... "yeah you need an after market lift!" that would be my recommendation. Safety First!....genius!

How could you possible not, given the fact she could be in it. It is a cross you must bear.

Just installed a metal cloak dual rate 3.5ā€ and oh my god it rides so much better than factory.

fyi dealers have a plastic spacer to reduce up travel on the bump stops. A cheap fix is the teraflex falcon bump stops for 99$ it will accomplish the same thing but keep the harsh clack sound away.
Really the diesel needs taller stiffer springs than factory to get more uptravel.

I have been trying to get my dealer to look at it, but they want to charge a $200 diagnostics fee. I bottom out on speed bumps at less than 10 MPH. There is an area near downtown where if I catch the bumps just right I will bottom out on the highway. I am ready to add a 200-pound bumper and winch to the front. I have already added about 250 pounds to the back.

djthumper... If you are looking to keep the same ride height and count into the additional weight of new bumper and winch I would HIGHLY recommend talking with Clayton and their springs for the Gladiator Diesel. James was AMAZING and cant give them enough credit. I put their springs on did not change ANYTHING else... Jeep drove handled as it should... added a stubby bumper and winch no changes ... again my two cents and a lot easier then dealing with dealership who doesn't seam to want to help

I second this! Don't waste your time with the dealer solution because you won't end up where you want to be.

Clayton diesel front springs will handle that weight you are going go add, then you just need a good shock to back it up.

Sounds to me you need to change that dealer. Don’t give them another penny. You should be able to hand him a copy of the TSB and point out where the jounce bumper tower impacts the pad inside the spring on the axle. I had an oil and fuel filter services done at a dealer an hour away in a small town west of Gainesville, FL. Showed the service writer the TSB number. She printed it out and showed it to the tech when he did the fuel filter. When they were done with my service and recall flash, she said the parts had already been ordered. All the parts are in with the exception of 1 rear shock, which is due in the end of June.

If you know or have some type of relationship with your salesman or manager bait them into a conversation as to why you haven’t been around in that you had to take your service business elsewhere because you felt the service department was taking advantage of you. The prime place to have this talk is on the showroom floor, with customers around. You don’t have to be pissed about it…just a matter of fact about it. …I’d really like to give this dealership my service work but apparently they’re not interested in the full dealership relationship. Then go get a keychain or an insulated cup and leave. You won’t come off as a Karen, but management, if they’re smart will have a talk with some folks…if they want the return purchase customer relationship.

Sorry for the ramble…7 hr drive I’m wore out.

My JT is not a Rubicon, the TSB is only on the Rubicons, not Sport or Sport S. There lies the problem.

Yeah I’ve heard about that. Did you try to get Star involved?

On bright side, folks that have done even a mild lift solved the issue. I’m planning on a system after the TSB is installed. I really won’t have time to do the install for several months so I just figured I’d go ahead and get it done.
