Looking for any advice on dealing with a P026C code on my '21 Ecodiesel.

I had a bunch of issues with the DEF system like many other Ecodiesel owners, in the first 5000 miles of owning my truck. But since then, with 48000 miles on it, the truck has been trouble free until now.

I put myself on the list to get a replacement fuel pump recall taken care of, about 18 months ago... The pump finally became available and I got the call from my dealer to bring the truck in for the replacement.

I live about 150 miles from the nearest dealer, where I bought the truck. I headed out and about half way there, the check engine light came on, with a P026C code (Fuel Injection Quantity lower than expected). I thought maybe the original fuel pump had died and fragged debris into the system...

They removed the pump, and it was fine, no debris in the system. They said it was because I had missed a fuel filter change, and that my air filter was also dirty. I paid for the filters, and they sent me on my way. About 50 miles into the return trip home, the CEL light came back on for the same code. I pulled over, turned around, and drove all the way back to the dealer, and then home in a loaner truck.

They had the truck for another week, and said the code was due to dirty injectors, and since I missed the fuel filter change, it wasn't under warranty. I paid the $400 or so to have the injectors cleaned, and drove all the way back to the dealer to pick up the truck. Started it in the dealer lot, and the CEL was on before leaving the parking spot. Drove back home with the loaner truck again.

They had the truck for another week, and said it need a new map sensor, so they replaced that, and did four drive cycles to make sure the light wasn't going to come on before I make another 300 mile round trip. On the forth drive cycle, the CEL light came back on again, same P026C code.

The truck has been there another week, and they have asked for Jeep Tech to step in, since they can't figure it out. Said it could be several more weeks before they even hear from Jeep.

I'm wondering if anyone else here has had this same issue, and if your dealer found a fix.

Thanks,

Pete

I'd recommend browsing the ram ecodiesel forums for more information on everything, more people with higher mileage there.
Just hoping I won't be waiting 18 months

I got the P026D check engine light twice, but not since being over 10,000 miles. This video lines up with a lot of what I've experienced, outside of the aftermarket tunes obviously.

I had that code pop up at just after 20k miles. Did the fuel filter and air filters and it didn’t go away. I have yet to have the fuel pump replaced and I’m now over 32k miles. My dealer said they get a few every other week or so.

My father in law has been a diesel owner (7.3 power stroke) for much longer than I have. He suggested it’s the fuel quality and the cold weather in the winter that could be causing the code. I bought stanadyne fuel treatment and put it in every tank. The only time the code came back was a recent trip to Utah in cold temps when we forgot to bring the treatment. That 800 miles or so round trip without treating the fuel was enough to set off the code again I guess.

with it being our daily driver I don’t have the time or money to waste at the dealer while they schedule me 2 months out for every diagnostic visit and then another 3 months later have a slot to work on it.

Yep, I hate taking my rigs to a dealer too. I've owned over 40 cars and trucks in the last 30 years, and I've never taken any of them back to a dealer, mostly because I drove them long past the warranty so there was no reason to go back. My JT is still under warranty though, so I thought they should fix it. But, alas, they are going to claim it's my fault and not cover it under warranty.

I got a note from them this morning, and they changed the O2 sensor, and are doing another 60 miles to see if it made any difference. I have little faith at this point.

Update:
Dealer was able to get help from Jeep Tech, who recommended a bunch of diagnostics. They are going to replace one injector ($1200...) and see if that fixes it.
Hoping for some resolution.

Damn. $1200 for just 1 injector? Part and labor?

Not sure if this is worth anything but when I bought my current eco they had to swap out the fuel pump before they actually gave me delivery. The Jeep threw codes almost as soon as I left the dealership. I needed to be somewhere immediately so since it was running fine I just carried on with my day, called the dealership to set up an appointment for them to tell me it would be a week before they could get to it.(I forget what the code was now.) So I just kept on driving and in about 4 days the engine lights magically disappeared, never to return.
