No doubt California will charge more as a penalty for driving an ICE vehicle and to off set the budget for electric vehicles not paying gas tax. As is I Pay $750 a year in California and I’m not bragging about it.Thanks. My questions was more along the lines of will these states impose higher registration and taxes for ICE vehicles once they stop selling in the state.
This is never true. If you want discussions of reasonable length - there needs a “no politics” rule. This ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS is getting old… Do you think you’re the old school mom dictating to 2nd graders…
GROW UP! We are adults here and I’m sure we are capable of having a discussion even if we don’t all agree with each other…..
NO DON'T LET THEM MOVE !!! Let them fix there own state. To many have moved to other states already and messing them up now!!I guess if citizens in those states are ok with having less choice, they can have fun with it. Or move to a state that allows more choice...
I agree completely, but a lot of buyers tend to buy what's available at their local dealers. The real problem I see is it's going to hurt the dealers in the CARB states if they aren't able to provide what buyers want. Do you want to have to go out of state to get warranty work if the dealers near you can't survive? Maybe this won't happen (hopefully not)... but it seems like a real possibility.I ordered mine from a different state. There were two reasons for this:
1. Dealers NEVER have what I want.
2. I saved 12K.
So waiting for what I want, and even going 1000 miles away, isn't a problem for me.
Hopefully if it starts seriously impacting the dealers, Stellantis will change the policy.I agree completely, but a lot of buyers tend to buy what's available at their local dealers. I mean, as the dealership model is outdated and inefficient maybe this will bring about the change needed to ditch the dealer, do a direct to consumer ordering model, and allow the implementation of dedicated service centers.I agree completely, but a lot of buyers tend to buy what's available at their local dealers. This needs to happen. California has the worst dealer networks of all brands in the world. The service centers cant keep trained techs because of the high cost of living and refusal to pay to accommodate a middle class worker living here.I mean, as the dealership model is outdated and inefficient maybe this will bring about the change needed to ditch the dealer, do a direct to consumer ordering model, and allow the implementation of dedicated service centers.
Also if folks are buying what's available then what they'll be buying is going to be the PHEV models or ordering to get a gas-only.
Except the PHEV models are significantly more expensive than the already expensive gas models, so people will go out of state for them if they want them immediately - or buy something else (Bronco?). As for eliminating the traditional dealership, this ABSOLUTELY needs to happen - and I believe it will... but it's going to take time to roll back all of the various state laws that are currently in place to protect the current dealership model. VW and Ford (others?) have already been making moves toward the direct sales model (like Tesla). Personally, I CAN'T WAIT for this to happen. No more HOURS of the same old B.S. sales tactics/games at the dealership that they've been putting us through for DECADES... no more ridiculous markups over MSRP on desirable models, etc. Just place your order, pay the same price that everyone else pays, and it shows up at your house in a few days/weeks. It's coming, but it's going to take time (years).I mean, as the dealership model is outdated and inefficient maybe this will bring about the change needed to ditch the dealer, do a direct to consumer ordering model, and allow the implementation of dedicated service centers.

As a Masshole I see this in New Hampshire and Maine..... Take this to the extreme and you have Austin Texas. The people who voted for all these parks and services now can no longer afford to live there!NO DON'T LET THEM MOVE !!! Let them fix there own state.
