The proverbial "One Wheel Peel" doesn't move a vehicle in slippery terrain.
For sure, going up my driveway in 2wd in my old truck with an open diff sometimes one wheels on snow or ice and would just spin one wheel, I’d have to engage 4wd. Now my lsd locks up and I can walk up without engaging 4wd

This thread made me go outside to look at my window sticker. I had my Gladiator sport s built on 1/7. Added the max tow package (which was listed on jeeps website for $1095) and I noticed the price showed up for $1195. I asked the dealer about the price difference and they had no idea. Trac lok was not listed on the max tow package (still not listed). Like others have noticed, trac lok could not be added when having max tow. My Gladiator was built surprisingly fast, 3 weeks. Got it at the end of January. Mine did have trac lok added to the max tow package!... if only it showed up with the trailer brake too

the Brake Loc sucks. it does crazy crap while drifting on dirt roads, and I just love taking my eyes off the road in the middle of drifting to hunt for the traction control off switch. Ugh.

I have NEVER, until today heard of someone saying a limited slip diff is a detriment in inclement weather. An auotmatic or lunchbox style locker, absolutely. They can be so unpredictable at times. But a clutch based limited slip???? For a more street biased truck that might see some trail duty now and then, its damn near the perfect compromise. I will take an LSD over an open diff ANY DAY in rain and snow. My wife's 05 TJ sport 6spd has 130k miles on it and her D44 3.73 trackloc diff has never given a lick of trouble or even a sign of failing. She's had it since it was about 18 months old with just shy of 50k.
I currently have an F150 that has an E-lock. If I was going off road frequently, it would be great. But I have a pavement princess Platinum model. So for all intents and purposes, I have an open diff. It automatically unlocks at 25 mph and it can't be used when turning, which means it's practically useless on the street. I HATE IT. I have the big, torquey 6.2L engine that also comes in the Raptor, but I have smaller street biased AT tires. In the rain, I HAVE to keep it in 4wd-AUTO, because I basically cant take off from a stop. My previous truck had the same tires, with the 5.0 engine, but it had an LSD and I never had the issues I do with this truck.
As for this thread, I hope to have a Gladiator by start of Summer, or before the end of the year at the absolute latest. Knowing that the max tow now comes with an LSD just made the max tow the perfect package for me.

You're conflating traction control with BLD. If you turn traction control off, BLD is still active. So yeah, traction control can hurt because it cuts engine power to control wheel spin, BLD doesn't, it just brakes the wheel spinning faster so the engine power goes to the other wheel, but it doesn't cut engine power at all.

I'm very aware of this. the BLD sucks, 2 wheel drive, drifting, and the brakes start chattering. I will find out how to disable this feature if its the last thing I do. Other than this, I love the truck! I'm sure it might do it in 4x4 mode, but I'm not a mud guy, so I have nothing to report on that.

BLD Is only active in 4wd H&L. What your experiencing is the traction control.

Incorrect, I have played with this over and over, 2 wheel drive and my Brake Loc traction control kicks in when the rear tires slip on wet or dirt roads, 4H or 4L do not and are not engaged for the system to kick in. I can disable and enable traction control in 2 wheel drive, when disabled it is more noticeable (the BLD control) there needs to be an off switch for the BLD. I wish it would automatically disable when I put it in either 4x4 mode, but it doesn't. I use my JT for playing/fun only, not a daily driver. I don't mind the BLD when I'm in 4L, but wich I could have gotten the Trac loc diff/limited slip axle, but it wasn't available on the MAX Tow when I ordered it at the end of April last year. Once again, that said, I love my JT , I may trade it in for a Diesel over the next few years but I'm in no hurry. July 3 it will be a year old to me.

If you disable it in 2 hi you'll just get the old 1 wheel peel, not sure why that would ever be preferable.

I know, but when both wheels are slipping just a tiny bit, the brakes chatter and it sounds weird and awful. Trac loc was not an option when I bought/ordered. dangit.

You can't dis able BLD in 2wd because its not active. You are confusing BLD with traction control and esc. Read the manual, BLD is only active in 4wd.

regardless of what the manual says, the BLD is activating when I'm in 2 wheel drive and I drift around corners. The manual needs updated. the tire that spins the most while doing cookies, gets the brakes applied to it, and they high speed pulse apply. I'm not confused. If your manual says that, you are welcome to deny reality and clutch your owners manual as tight to your heart as you like.
In 2 wheel drive, flat dirt road, with mild corners, (or doing donuts in a big gravel lot, in 2 wheel drive, Traction control disabled, so the engine doesn't keep cutting power, the BRAKE LOC TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM ENGAGES THE BRAKES ON MY TRUCK.
and IT SUCKS! I love everything thing else about my JT, I just hate that feature (well, I hate the feature that disables backing up while the drivers door is open too)

Yours want back up with driver's door open, mine does. Is that feature limited to certain models, I just backed up yesterday with the door open. That would be crazy if you couldn't do that.

It's a safety feature, guessing they added it after a couple people accidentally left their vehicles in gear while they got out to check something and the vehicle rolled forward and injured them. Mine does this too, and won't release the brakes til you shift into park and back to drive/reverse. I'm not sure if there are other conditions that need to be met too though, like seat belt not fastened.
