Here you go Mopar has the 392 crate engine on sale for $8,072.40.
With no wiring harness, accessories, pcm, trans, mounts, exhaust, etc. No warranty, no install. By the time you source everything else you'll still be pushing $20k+ and you'll have to do all the work. I don't see a source for all those parts so you may be into custom wiring harness and tune to try to get it done. Add several thousand there and hours more labor and potential issues. Not working nights and weekends at well under $100/hr for my time in order to maybe save $10k...or end up with a project that isn't quite right.

Only in private sale from the day of conversion and with no blue book without options in it the reader valuation it literally is you convincing Tom ,Dick or Harry that its worth X-dollars. Which leaves you with 1 buyer . Someone else who wants a V8 with no warranty vs. A V6 with a possible warranty . I wouldn't buy one off a private person imagine not knowing how many times they romped on it. What kind of service attention they have given it. It is a total shot in the dark.

If Jeep markets a 5.7 Gladiator it's not going to be more reasonable, the dealers will mark them way up over MSRP.
That’s always a very temporary thing. Unless, they did a limited run, it’s a non factor. If they ever did build a 5.7l JT, it wouldn’t be a limited run. They mass produce that engine for several models so it wouldn’t cost much more to build than the 3.6l. They’d have a mark up, as they should, but it wouldn’t be like the 6.4l.

Is the amw warranty not transferable? I guarantee these v6s see redline far more often than my 5.7L ever did... because they make peak power north of 6k so they have to. Odds are if you're in the market for a modded Jeep, you'll only see the v8 as the bonus it is over the v6. Now if you want an untouched model at the cheapest price under the hope it was never driven hard (everything I've ever driven gets driven hard and they all go well past 100k miles), you aren't buying one of my lifted Jeeps anyway.

You lost that when you drove off the lot .
I know, that's why I'm impressed I have any useful equity in it 😂 I had to buy in a bad time of the market. Didn't help either.

When Motel 8 Garage started saying the 5.7 was coming, and I looked and saw it wasn't, I actually went shopping swapped Gladiators.

They were hard to find, except on BAT, where they were 30-65k asking prices.

Which brings me around to, for 30k, I think I'd rather just keep the one we have.

Hell just a 5.0 V8 and a good manual transmission and I'd be happy.

Motel 8 Garage.... I like that.
Anyone doing a swap is going for long term ownership hopefully. Although if they have a YT channel they eventually give their builds/buys away like Goonzquad or Motel 8 Garage. Come on folks buy some merch and get 10,000 chances to win. I used to like Goozquad but anymore it's just a scam to buy their merch.

A lot of big YouTuber's are on this path. Pays the bills and makes them money, I reckon. I watched them in a bit at the beginning when they were working out of their parents garage and in the driveway. YouTube is a beast that some creators end up feeding until it grows into an unsustainable monster. I know Cleetus McFarland has giveaways running non stop, and a few others jump in now and then. David Freiburger has one going pretty often now - except it's usually old junk that runs decent and you don't have to buy anything, you can also mail in a post card with your info to enter. So that's neat.

Like 500 people know who they are. That’s a very niche market. I have no idea on the number, but most people don’t know they exist.
Niche market yes, only 500 people??? I have only sold 150 cars since I was 16 in 1971, and I love the niche market. If you have it and they whant it. :)

I agree that markups would be a short-term issue. We saw Jeep suddenly drop the Wrangler 392 by $20K when realizing that the V8 may just stick around in the US. And keep in mind that unlike the Wrangler, the Gladiator is a truck and there will be tons of V8 Rams on the CDJR lots.

Indeed.

I have a Youtube channel, about 58k subs, pays me about 800 bucks a month. I got in early, so it was easier to gain subs and dedicated viewers, build a brand. But I never jumped on the collabs, joined a network, did the events and tours...

It's not my job, so I'm under no pressure to poop out 8 lying videos a day, or push merch, or products. I'm sitting on a 3d scanner right now that costs 5k I got for free because I see no value in it to a guy trying to put an LS in his OBS Chevy lol.

Going from 800 a month to enough to replace my income as an ME, with benefits, it's a hell of a reach, and we considered it back in 18-19, and chose to keep it light.

I totally understand what drives Motel 8 Garage, same as I understand what drives Mr Freigburger, who I admire, but also remember selling Fitch Fuel catlysts and anything else Peterson told him to lol.
