I bought the oil cooler kit from Bulletproof Diesel which looks pretty much the same list as primer_grey listed. Haven't installed it yet because it looks like a Pita. Instructions say to drain the radiator, might as well upgrade to all aluminum rad at that point as well

Just want to point out - this is not an oil cooler kit. It’s an auxiliary engine coolant radiator that goes in line with the main radiator.

I bought that kit, was sort of disappointed to find it used the smallest, cheapest cooler available from Rockauto. I bought the larger cooler like primer_grey used and installed it behind the winch fairlead hole in my metal, aluminum not steel, bumper and it didn’t do much. I have done a lot of searching for a larger cooler that would fit between the frame rails to add more capacity but haven’t bought one yet.

That is correct. And the coolant runs through the oil cooler which helps draw heat away from the oil

I haven't had derate rate and I live in Southern AZ. However, I feel that the kit from bulletproof will fullfill my needs when towing my trailer for the most part. Once I actually install it that is. I plan on mounting it behind the front skid plate and adding a fan. I don't do crazy offroading so I'm not too worried about damaging it behind the skid

or…cool the engine coolant down and that benefits everything.

Thank goodness!

We have a definitive fix....All we need is "Skinny 38's" full delete, tune, and Mishimoto radiator (that will most likely require using that warranty)?

I'll believe it when someone I trust trys it out.

I like and trust Wolf Overland but there is something to be said about his level of modification and driving experience creating the perfect situation for peak performance. He knows his JT intimately and knows exactly how to maintain temps with driving style (RPM/gear moderation).

Also I have a mishimoto radiator on my Wrangler for about 5 years, no issues. I'd hope that more people vouch for the JT model of the radiator but I'd be more willing to trust it with my experience.

Soon I’ll have my insane diesel bypass kit with the oil cooler in def tank location and CSF radiator in . This with my meth injection I will have no problems anymore while towing.

I'd love to see some pics of that oil cooler system when you get it plumbed in please.
I would love to repurpose my DEF tank for fuel but haven't seen a system I like yet.

Not familiar with the Jeep 3.0 oil burner, but my other trucks are diesels. Controlling the oil temperature is a critical issue for overall engine cooling. After market oil cooler from Mishimoto might be an option. Maybe an aluminum radiator, or some supplemental cooling.

As a thought... maybe some passive ways to remove heat from the engine bay. I 'd take that plastic engine cover off, maybe find a way to direct some additional air out of the engine bay. I know some who converted their windshield waster into a "mister".

There's nothing worse than 'trying' overcoming a poor designed cooling system.

I've got close to 50k miles on my '22 JTRD, I tow and haul and off-road it (probably harder than I should, and I know I over load). I've never had cooling issues, I watch my overland pages like a hawk when I know I'm running heavy or maybe pulling a little out of my class, never been close to worry level on engine, transmission, transfer case temps. Still running the factory 33" AT tires. 35" ATs are next, they are heavier but I didn't see them adding that much stress to worry about cooling

The Gen 2 EcoDiesel folks learned this over 10 years ago. More fuel = more heat. As long as you back off, then it's fairly manageable to keep cooling in check. Not everyone has the patience to slow down, which is the crux of the issue.

How did Jeep earn such a high tow rating on the EcoDiesel? Afterall, the SAE J2807 Davis Dam Grade Test is very difficult. It requires a 11.4-mile climb at a 3% - 7% grade in 100*F ambient temperatures with the A/C at maximum output. Well, I can tell you how they did. The towing requirement has a minimum speed of 40 mph.
