Took me about two hours and then another half hour because I didn’t read the directions clearly. It really was quite easy. My first test drive out to the Johnson Valley revealed a world of difference. I use the Taser to disconnect the front sway barAnd was able to travel at very high speeds on the desert roads just like a Mojave. Good luck.
was there any cutting involved, or just wrenching?

Thanks!

Jay

This is stupid! WTF?!?!?!? Why does not Jeep solve this issue? Why are we spending our money fixing it for them with aftermarket parts? I bet that's what they are counting on! Are they going to be compensating us for our time and money? F no! @JeepCares apparently they don't! There are to many of us out here having the same problem!

Yes there is some cutting involved, that’s why I had the extra half hour cause I didn’t read the directions carefully. Essentially you cut part of the old bump stop housing off in order to install the new hydraulic bump stops. By the way I’ve been experimenting with different pressures in the nitrogen valving currently at 125 psi,Going to try 100 next week just to see where I can get the most seamless transition. I’m completely happy with mine now, I think if jeep sent out the Rubicon diesel with Mojave bump stops and 1 inch longer springs they’d solve the problem

So I guess I'll update with my experience.

2021 Overland EcoD...just picked it up 2 months ago. In stock form, ZERO bottoming out on any type of road, on or off. Gravel roads with fierce pot holes, freeways with fierce pot holes, driving over speed bumps, it is all good. No bottoming out. In fact, the ride quality is quite amazing. It feels way better than my old Max Tow gas model did. The diesel suspension soaks up the shock perfectly and feels great. I love it.

I later on installed 2" Daystar poly spacers and left the bump stops factory, so now there is even less chance that I'll bottom out, but it was never an issue before.

I just started a direct conversation/private message about my JTRD having the same bottoming-out issue. Thanks!

Let us know what happens!!!, I called and chatted with Kate, she was very nice.

She let me know there was nothing to do at this point as it was submitted to jeep engineering. She said if there was any update / TSB... She would post here. I haven't seen anything yet, and frankly / honestly I'll be surprised if we do.

It does drive fine most of the time, it just doesn't have enough rate to soak up speed bumps.... It will crawl and flex just fine off road though :) Which was likely the point of the rubicon... I agree though it does bottom out much more than my buddies gas rubicon.....

I am going to wait about 6 months before changing out to hydraulic bump stops.

I don’t have any heavy upgrades yet. Just a couple of KC lights and a radio currently.

I think it’s the bump stops hitting, but it hasn’t happened on my previous vehicles or our JL.

I have a JTRD with the factory steel bumper and the distance from the axel to the frame (same spot your started) is 12" for me. So far I didn't had issues with bottoming out and roads in my area are rough.

My experience is that it takes a special kind of bump...Not all speed humps do it, it has to be a sharp bump. I have 2 speed humps at a school near my house, they are both sharp on one side. After resetting my vehicle to Stock, I was able to get repeatable results, and capture video of the speedometer at 25mph or less, and the harsh thud of the coil bucket. I shared the video with JeepCares, and my Dealership. Dealership could "barely" replicate because they were worried about wrecking my wheels.... I did actually laugh out loud when they said that.... considering I had just returned from Moab the week before ;)

And so what was the reply from @JeepCares (doesn't)

So, if I were to put on a Mopar 2" lift, how tall would my jeep be then? Is it a true 2" taller so 77" with a hard top with 33" tires or would it be slightly less? Basically my garage is tiny. Opening of door is dead on 80". And garage door opener is also 80in at lowest.

Do they make lift kits for garages?

The end result will vary. Most I've seen end up over 2" - some almost 3" on the lighter trucks.

Thanks for this update Barbarian. For those not looking for a full spings/shock lift, this looks like a quality (if not cheap) solution. I looked them up on their site and read through the install instructions.

Edited, as this question got answered in subsequent posts:
Did you cut back the bump stop holder to install? YES.

Are you running on stock springs / shocks, and if so what resulting clearance do you have between the axel pads and the jounce bumps?

For reference, earlier measurements from stock JTRD in this thread show only 1.5" uptravel from axel pad to the stock rubber bumpstops, and 2 5/8" uptravel from axel pad to the metal rim of the bump holder.

His is about 12” too.

Measure between the bump stop inside the coil at the top to the metal at the bottom.

This will be 3” at the most. That’s the amount of up travel you have.

With the spring rate of the diesel, it’s not enough.
