What does eliminating the swirl and not having the butterfly valve in the throttle body do exactly?
There's no reason to remove swirl valves unless you're deleting emissions. The swirl valves are there to improve emissions.

Wound up going the route of reaching out to EOC asking if their tune would be compatible and this is what I received from them. Seems it’s not even worth it for the performance gains.

When both companies say NO explicitly, I would agree with both of them. It would be nice if it did for replacement if needed.

However if it did fit the Gen3, I would only be looking to replace this if you HAD to replace the intake. I don't know about you all, but to get to this intake coming off it would take a lot of work. There is a lot of lines, wires and hoses running over the top of the engine. This would not be some Sunday walk in the park.

The work getting to it isn’t a problem. I just didn’t want to remove the factory one and then say it doesn’t fit. It was a while I’m there project. I was planning on removing the egr coolers at the same time as replacing the manifold. Have everything apart once and address it all.

EOC is stuck in there ways. The reason to do it is for durability.

the throttle valve causes turbo surge when snow wheeling I’ve proven this time and time again it randomly closes. Yes this is even stage 2. It’s commanded open but for some reason it does funky stuff. If it fails it will cause all kinds of problems.

Did you go the route of the banks throttle plate delete while you have a stage 2 tune to fix that issue?

Okay I am so glad there's this thread. I've been looking at doing this to remove junk from the engine bay essentially. Just haven't wanted to pull the trigger on it because of compatibility with the eoc tune. Didn't even know there was a difference between gen 2 and gen 3 intake manifolds. Hopefully someone here has a good weekend and tries it. Banks has a good return policy if it doesn't work lol.

Gen 2 and 3 manifolds may be different but the heads are the same. Manifold bolts to the head …. Soooooo, this may work. I too would prefer a clean aluminum intake for longevity as well

Did any of you ever attempt this project? Love the durability aspect of the Banks intake and was like op going to knock it out while pulling the EGR coolers...Thanks all.

Go for it, it's only money, i don't think anyone has posted on doing it yet, just lots of conjecture.
Worst case ebay it for half the price.

I just finished replacing the intake on my 21 JTDR and I used the Dorman intake manifold. they are identical to the factory intake manifold on my 3rd gen ecodiesel. That would lead me to assume the banks will fit your 3rd gen ecodiesel.

It was actually in really great shape. A lot cleaner than I expected. The swirl valves were not coked up with carbon like I expected. The swirl valve actuator rod had failed and that was the reason for the fault code.
