There's no reason to remove swirl valves unless you're deleting emissions. The swirl valves are there to improve emissions. What does eliminating the swirl and not having the butterfly valve in the throttle body do exactly?
Gen 2 and 3 manifolds may be different but the heads are the same. Manifold bolts to the head …. Soooooo, this may work. I too would prefer a clean aluminum intake for longevity as wellOkay I am so glad there's this thread. I've been looking at doing this to remove junk from the engine bay essentially. Just haven't wanted to pull the trigger on it because of compatibility with the eoc tune. Didn't even know there was a difference between gen 2 and gen 3 intake manifolds. Hopefully someone here has a good weekend and tries it. Banks has a good return policy if it doesn't work lol.
Go for it, it's only money, i don't think anyone has posted on doing it yet, just lots of conjecture.Did any of you ever attempt this project? Love the durability aspect of the Banks intake and was like op going to knock it out while pulling the EGR coolers...Thanks all.
How bad was your oem intake manifold?I just finished replacing the intake on my 21 JTDR and I used the Dorman intake manifold. they are identical to the factory intake manifold on my 3rd gen ecodiesel. That would lead me to assume the banks will fit your 3rd gen ecodiesel.
