How did you get your tazer to do that? I'm not seeing this as an option or maybe I'm just missing it.

Can you do this while driving or only while you are parked?

Just chiming in to say was quite surprised in how the Tazer’s max radiator fan speed has helped in high oil temp conditions. Haven’t had a chance to try it in warm weather yet obviously, but when snow wheeling through deep powder I saw oil temps at 240ish. Kicked on that max fan mode and temps dropped 20 degrees within minutes.

I wouldnt expect that same level of results during the summer, but I’m curious to hear if anyone has tried it?
It works well in the summer heat also. If it is hot and I know I have a steep grade ahead of me, I will kick on the high speed fan. It really slows down how quickly the oil temperature rises. It will also help drop the engine temps if it's already hot. I have never had my JTRD go into limp mode due to oil temperatures.

My Gladiator has never defueled and I have seen a high oil temperature of 270 degrees, although briefly.

After re-reading a lot of the posts. on this subject it looks like the only thing that will solve the problem is some kind of accessory oil cooler (probably with a fan.) The question is, due to the relatively low volume of diesel Gladiator. production, will anyone build it? Can it be done in such a way that it will not void the warranty? Even if it were relatively expensive (say $1500-2000) I would buy it. I really like my Gladiator and have. learned to manage the temperatures when. towing my 5,000 pound travel trailer. It would be the perfect vehicle for my purpose if the oil temperature problem could be solved.
I took a trip from Salt Lake to Saint George and had “high” oil temps so I thought I’d bring this subject back up rolling into summer.

Does anyone know what temperature range is normal for the Ecodiesel?

The drive on I-80 has a high speed limit of 80mph most of the way. I was seeing temps on flats 230-235 and on ‘climbs’ temps 245-252.

Has anyone found a solution to lower oil temps?

I saw this oil cooler on another thread. Has anyone tried installing it with success?

You’ll have to go way back on this same thread or maybe copy the title thread plus “insane diesel” in the search to find it. The guys who tried it did have some decent results.

Thanks @Jefe1018. I went back and found some of the old posts related to the insane diesel oil cooler. From what I found, nobody has done the install yet. The main concern is that it would use the Gen two filter.

Anyways, I haven't been able to figure out what "normal" temps are. For most other vehicles running a 230-250 EOT for 4 hours would be considered high. Is this a normal operating temp spec for the JT?

Does anyone here know if doing a full delete would lower oil temps? In theory, since the exhaust wouldn't be super heating the coolant you would naturally have lower coolant temps and from the lower coolant temps you could potentially have lower oil temps.

If a system was off-road only(key words here) and the egr cooler was not passing coolant and there was no egr then yes, it would not run as hot. The oil can take it, engine I'm confident they designed it to run warm for emissions and efficiency. https://www.motortrend.com/how-to/engine-oil-temperature/

Go back a few pages for more info from my ID install.
The short answer.
I installed the Insane Diesel by pass filter with my own oil cooler installed in the spare tire area. It works to about a 20* reduction in oil temps for me. I have done a few other things that help. The highest oil temp I’ve seen before modes was 248*.
I did mine before the ID kit with cooler was available. The cooler they use is smaller. Maybe doesn’t get as much airflow.

I contacted ID and they told me users of their system see average oil temperature reductions of 35 degrees F under heavy boost conditions. According to them, there should be no warranty issues if their system is installed by a professional mechanic. Since my 2021 Gladiator has only 18,000 miles on it, warranty violation is a big concern. They say they have installed hundreds of them. I’d really like to know if anyone else on this forum has any experience with the ID unit. The price of the ID unit is no big deal. Having to pay for an engine because they blamed its’ failure on an aftermarket accessory would be. It’s my understanding that SEMA took this issue to court some years ago and got a ruling that stipulated the manufacturer had to prove an accessory caused the failure. That’s encouraging but it could easily turn into an issue of who had the deepest legal pockets. I know who would win that one.

It’s a fair question. A good friend of mine who is an engineer and at one time ran a refinery for Mobil, says the oil is good to well over 300 degrees. However, the temperatures we are seeing is higher than many of us have ever seen. When we were in college I had. some Valvoline. Racing oil spill on the headers of. my ‘67 Camaro and catch fire. I gave him some of the oil and he did the traditional tests like the Timken 3 ball bearing (I think they use four now) pour point and flash point. He got my sample to flash at 270 degrees (F) and just prior to that the ash content of the oil rose rapidly. So, after many years of working on cars (but mostly motorcycles) these high temperatures are concerning. Right now I am cautiously trying to research the effect such extreme (for traditional oils) temperatures are going to have, at both low and later, higher mileages. If this is the new world, then I am going to trust - but also verify.

What was your coolant temp, from what I have been told, coolant matters more than oil.

I can’t remember the highest coolant temps I’ve seen because I keep my eyes on the oil temp, but high 230’s for sure, maybe 240. I’m getting ready to take a 3 week trip to the Pacific Northwest June 1st. We will be pulling a 21 foot Rockwood Mini-Lite 2104S which weighs around 5,000lbs, and starting from our summer cabin near Flagstaff at 6500 feet. I will try to monitor my temps and share them on this web site. It does pretty well when it‘s high and cool. Some of the highest temps I have seen were coming into and out of Albuquerque two years ago after picking up the trailer near Fort Worth.

Sounds like an awesome trip

Wonder when the 24" Wrangler grills will be available to order and if they'll be a direct fit. It's grown on me and the added airflow will be welcomed.
