The tag on my door actually says 2/2020 for a build date

Has anyone actually opened up one of the early max tow diffs to see if we have it? maybe it was just an error on the early build sheets? Slim chance... I know, but I'll stay optimistic
I'm not sure about the Jeep differentials, but with every other differential I've worked with...

- If you jack it up, turn one wheel and see the other wheel turn in the opposite direction, it's a single track

- If you jack it up, turn one wheel and see the other wheel turn in the same direction, it's a limited slip.

I think that Jeep is going to come out with a Willys edition of the Gladiator (or something like it) that will feature the 44 wide track axle w/ LSD. Its possible that they did not want to manage a supply chain of 44 wide tracks with and without the LSD, so they are just including it as part of the Max Tow.

I am almost willing to wager money on this.

I checked the builder and now you can’t order Max tow in a base sport anymore which is what I have. Not sure why but you can only get it in a Sport S now

If that's true, our base sport Max Tows will soon be collectible. :like:

FWIW, Max tow on my sticker was only $995. So while that new sticker Shows LSD as part of the package, it also costs more money.

True, but I would have paid the extra $200 for the rear lsd in mine. If they start including the yet unreleased trailer brake controller for no additional cost I'll be really bummed.

Would I pay $200 for a differential that's going to need clutch pack replacements every 60k miles, requires friction modifier in the proper amounts to function, and causes the rear end of my truck to walk out from under me in the snow and ice? Eh... probably not.

Would I have accepted a $200 credit from FCA to take the option? I guess so.

Bottom line, I ain't mad about it.

Idk, I've got a 2004 WJ Overland with Quadradrive LSDs in the front and rear and both still operate flawlessly after 130k miles. Like anything, keep on top of fluid levels and I think they last much longer than people say. I've even been running oversized 32" MTs on mine since 70k miles.

I have never found driving with a LSD to be very difficult in the winter. In fact I have found them to be decided pluses for inclement weather.

I don't get all the chatter on the forums about an LSD being bad in the winter. They are a tremendous plus in the winter. Much better than an open differential or a locker for snow covered roads. Awesome that you can now get trac lock on the max tow. It makes sense to have it for dry roads and wet roads.

Seems to be a trend going of forum members from northern states defending them...
