Wouldn’t trade my diesel for the world. The recall on mine will get done in a year or so, doesn’t really matter. I’m at 33k miles on mine. I’ve never put any additives in it. I’ve drained the water once. It just does what it’s supposed to.

I’d also be interested in where you’re getting 18k off msrp from. I got mine for 49,400 and msrp was 58,500. I felt like I got a hell of a price on mine. Granted it wasn’t a 2 year old Jeep but still.

I have the 3.6 because I couldn't find a diesel in late 2023 with the options I wanted. Get the diesel, but you will pay more per gallon of fuel. Do the math with the better mpg and smile quotient to see if you still want it. People have clamored for Jeep to put in a diesel for years, and they dropped it after just a few years. Shame . (Yeah, I know the diesels were available in Grand CHerokee and Liberty for some years ago and owned a Liberty Diesel)

I really wanted an EcoDiesel. I test drove one before buying my 2023 Gladiator five weeks ago: it drove nice; tons of torque, but I didn't like that it stunk like hell.

Things were fine as long as we were moving, but as soon as I came to a stop or was idling on the lot, a strong stench of diesel took over. I was surprised to be honest.

Then I read all of issues the EcoDiesel has had; some of which are still unresolved.

I ended getting a gasoline Gladiator instead. The Pentastar engine is proven; runs quietly and smoothly. No regrets.

Even though I had some "growing pains" on a brand new 2021 JTRD-- I wouldn't change my decision...
How many trips to the dealership did the "growing pains" entail, pray tell.

I have a 21 JTRD and absolutely love it with 20,000 miles on it. Mine runs damn good too! Def is really not that big of deal or expense. Get it and the fuel at Costco.
Interesting, I don't believe Costco here has any diesel pumps. Buc-ees has diesel and DEF pumps. Should be cheaper for def fills for urban miles. Likely take a box when on the road. Also Buc-ees has NON Corn Syrup gasoline for occasional fills on my 3.6.

For them to sell the ā€˜23 it has the new pump.

I had 15k on mine before the recall was done.
no issues. I did have a 3.0 ram that had a def sensor problem, it was an easy fix.

I wouldn’t get a gladiator without the 3.0. Some people don’t like the diesel maintenance but its worth the trade off for performance.

if you can get def from the pump that’s a major plus.
At the end of the day do what your pocket book can afford and be happy driving a Jeep.

The price is irresistible, NEW 2023 Gladiator/Rubi Diesel. $18,000 off MSRP

I have a gas Gladiator and love it, so much fun, I will never be without a jeep again but the Diesel. I want it bad Im not worried about DEF, but has Jeep massaged out the 3.0 issues for 2023?
I absolutely love my diesel. Just make sure they do the high pressure fuel pump before delivery.

Two Costcos near me have diesel, just not the one closest to my house. Fortunately I pass one every week and with the fuel economy I buy about 1/3 of a tank per week.

A diesel Rubicon is the only thing I'd consider trading my 3.6 for. With interest rates and trade values where they are, I wouldn't but I'd really think about it

As others have said, I wouldn't want my JL or JT without the diesel engines. Keep up with your maintenance and enjoy it.

If you smelled anything at all during a diesel test drive, good job passing on that one. There must have been something quite wrong with it. There should be no odor whatsoever.

I'll just +1 all the owners here, I test drove gas and diesel versions back to back and it's not subtle. If there was only the 3.6 available, I don't think I would have bought a Gladiator at all. No problems at all with mine, just torque for days, lots of range, turns 37s with ease on stock gears.

I bought my JTR during the stop sale so I had no choice but the 3.6L. Had the diesel been available, that's what I would have got.

Buy it.

I have a 21 JTRD with more than 85K on the original pump. I’ve crawled it, overlanded it, and gone coast to coast more than once. Great platform. Great engine. Pulls over and through anything. Nothing but joy.

With that deal, grab it!
