Maybe I’m not understanding towing capacity correctly. I thought the sport with max tow was only good for 7650 lbs. Wouldn’t that put you a good bit over the rating?
It was a bit over. I don't recommend it. I was thinking I was between 7 and 8k towing, not 10. But 4Low pulled it right up the hill at the landfill.

My opinion is that the Gladiator is a truck and I am going to treat it like any other truck I have owned in the past. Hook up the trailer and drive. If it acts goofy or starts swaying, pull over and reassess. But I’m not going to count every pound when I’m working with a truck.
I was asked to go get 50 bags of mulch. Did not expect them to be wet

That’s awesome. Always nice to know the actual limits of the truck.

Hit some dunes and desert trails. Gotta break up quarantine somehow... 1st time out doing any serious offroading. Didn't get any pictures of the really gnarly trail obstacles, but the gladiator handled most of it without a fuss. Flexed out at one point inadvertently (misjudged the depth of a divot) and wished for a moment I had engaged the sway bar disconnect. 4lo was applied a few times to crawl over some sandstone. All in all, it was a great trip out with the fam. Gotta tell you, though, there's a steep learning curve coming from a TJ to the JT. Engine is a completely different animal.

Helped my brother in law haul a dresser and then a bed frame and mattress box. Had the top down and got to understand / see why the soft top only goes back and rests on top (I did later fully remove the soft top because I prefer that look. Only take about 2 minutes to pop those two bolts off and remove easily by myself).

That’s extremely reckless of you with other people’s safety.

Here is my Super Steep long Climb with my manual Rubicon JT. I was impressed. I took it all the way up with 4WD low, 2nd gear, 4K rpm the whole way, front and back lockers on. It was a long steady climb, definitely a few big ruts along the way. I turned the lockers off and turned around using granny gear at the top of the ridge, then, turned them back on and came down in the same gear. I think the long wheel base helps super steep hill climbing, and the super low gearing and Lockers showed their worth. Some real excitement.

The biggest issue with towing in the gladiator imo is stopping. My truck with no load already barely wants to stop my 35s compared to how a fullsize truck feels. No way I want 10k pounds behind me unless its a one off thing and Ill just play it super safe, people are stupid though and you cant always plan for what they are going to do. Its also a huge liability if you blow through your brakes and nail someone

I'd bet money my Can-Am Outlander 800R on 29.5" Outlaws won't fit in the back of my JTR... Not to mention it weighs about 1,000 lbs. on it's own. I'd be best to get a small trailer to tow it on. I'll probably end up selling it or trading it in the future and getting a Can-Am Commander 1000XT or Defender HD10XT or HD10 LoneStar Edition for hunting.

Are you up on the wheel wells with air let out of front tires? Hard to tell from the pic. My rancher is 4” wider than the wheel wells.
It’s about an inch or more wider than the fenderwells but squeezes in between.

You should never be towing close to that much without the trailer having adequate brakes, and a brake controller. I believe the owners manual reccomend s anything over 3500 you should have trailer brakes, and some state laws require it. Some states require it on anything as little as 1000 pounds.
