Well, I contacted Banks today and pointed them to this thread. They said they would look into it…that’s not a “no” so I suggest all of you reach out to them as well with and tell them you’re interested with your inputs. They just need to know there’s a market for them. They have to have a relatively small percentage of HD (because there are so many) but they need a relatively higher percentage of our JTD’s to make it profitable.

Banks is probably too big of a company to deal with a pesky group buy, but I'd be willing to throw down cash as a commitment to buy. Sometimes smaller companies need an X-amount of people to commit before they are willing to put a product into production.

If it was well engineered, measurably more effective at shedding heat than the stock pan, and less than $500, I would buy one. Even better, if they made the pan along with a higher capacity/performance oil cooler and sold them as a kit, there would be people lining up for them.

Good man, I was gonna do the same… we really have a need to shed some heat … a transmission pan would be an easier sell since a ton of other vehicles use this transmission. Then again, car guys don’t go to banks for parts, they got the diesel truck world locked down.

PPE makes a transmission pan for the ZF Transmission. I have one on my 2015 and 2020 Ram EcoDiesel.

I’m assuming the pan is aluminum and only magnet is the drain plug? Can other magnets sit under the filter and be held in place by the filter?
Do you have to grind the cooling fins for the exhaust pipe?

The stock pan is metal at least and has 2 magnets. The PPE is 1 magnet. The other issue is that it will take longer to heat the trans oil temp. That will make it more inefficient.

On the other hand you get more oil capacity and more cooling. Personally, I would only run this if temps are more then 205f with using the mishimoto trans cooler first. The oil it self can take more heat but the trans internals I fear get damage when you run much over optimal.

Yes.

Yes, you can epoxy magnets to the bottom of the pan. The pan is deeper than the factory pan and holds an additional 2 quarts.

No grinding. These pans fit the Ram 1500, Jeep Wrangler, and Jeep Gladiator.

The other benefit is the ability to perform drain and fills without having to drop or replace the pan. This makes maintenance much easier, quicker, and more cost effective.

You still need to drop the pan to change the filter. But the drain plug would make it less messy.

Personally I wouldn't change fluids without changing filter.

Depends on the epoxy. Use something like JB Weld.

I perform a drain and fill every 45,000 miles, but only change the filter every 90,000 miles.

In my opinion, magnets on the factory pan are super critical since they take care of the break-in material, but once you get past the break-in, then magnets are less of a concern. The magnet drain pan on the PPE pan is sufficient. The key is to stay up on your drain and fill intervals. Transmission fluid is a detergent and will do a good job of keeping the system clean.

Your waiting to long. I would say change sooner and keep a nice color on the fluid.

Adding Another magnet would be a good idea.
