Things just keep gettin' better. thanks for this supplement.
No need to cut and splice with these.
Automatically connects to the right pins.

This will work fine, one thing to be aware of is that the tip on the male cigarette plug is positive 12v. If you just toss it somewhere and the tip touches metal (floor jack or whatever) it can create a short. I know most modern chargers won't power up unless they see a voltage (safety feature), but I chose to not use this method, I do use the 7 pin trailer plug, but without the 12 cigarette pigtail.

Question: With so many people saying that you need to charge the batteries separately, what does charging through the trailer plug do?

Testing and charging separately would be recommended if one battery were suspect for being weak or failure prone. However, if both batteries are in good working order, then you don't need to charge separately.

We drive our Jeep typically no more than once per month, so it can sit for weeks at a time. I let it charge for about 3 - 4 days in parallel every few weeks. So far, I haven't had any issues. The Jeep will be two years old in December. I posted a picture of my setup on the first page.

I agree with @biodiesel. I started doing it last winter on my 2020 Rubicon as. way to help me get through the winter and then make a battery change come Spring. It worked great no more warnings or starting issues. Then I decided to get a 2025, now I do it as prevention.

I'm just going to put this out there... I deleted my aux battery, connected the + wire from aux to the + on the main battery. Left the - on the - of the main battery. Then after replacing the old H6 battery with a new H7 battery everything is as should be.. even have ESS and remote start! 😎

I started using a tender through the trailer plug to keep them topped off immediately after I replaced both batteries. I did not drive my truck enough to keep them charged. I did it that way for years with no issue.

Another battery tender (Noco genius) charging location. Easy install and short wire length.

You charge only inside? Would think that would pool water if it rained creating a shock hazard.

I just run an extension to the front grill and have another for the Viair as they are fused differently,7.5 and 25 amp. They are hidden behind the grill in the right lower corner when not in use.

I do charge in garage and would not charge it outdoors; that is a good point to highlight. It’s water tight when closed and I can still charge under the hood if I was outside. I chose this location for ease of install and short wire run. Also the plastic cowl is inexpensive to replace.
Cheers

I have the same exact Noco receptacle but it is located in my back bumper to the right of the license plate. Mine isn't connected to a charger though, it just runs to an outlet inside the bed so I could have my fridge or other things in the bed with the cover down and tailgate shut but still hooked to shore power.

Charging both batteries separately is when you have a problem or replacing the batteries.

Noco plugged in, is charging both batteries on a working system, maintaining the charge level.
